Are They Really Myth Or Just Superstitions | Stories To Put Us On Our Toes

When I was young, I have heard a lot of things about mystical creatures in this part of the world, we have this, we have that, they do this and that, different stories and at some point it kind of instill some fear and at some point curiosity if they are real or still in existence. The first Myth I heard was the Marine being known as the Mermaids, there are some tribe which do worship them here and I do wonder if they have seen this mermaid in real life before and not just in pictures or craved objects, the funniest part was when they saw Mermaids are female in nature and are very beautiful, they are part woman and the other part is fish like and at some point they do change to full human being when they come to land, back then I do wish to even meet one by chance someday.

Until I started watch stuff on internet, they I figured out mermaid aren't that beautiful, some are even uglier and are almost extinct or in hiding, and the movie Aquaman kind of clear my doubt if mermaid are only female or both and also how their kingdom will be. There is this saying that mermaid are money, something like if they cry, their tears drop pearls which people can gathered and sell for money, and I will be live having 2-3 mermaid is like having a money making machine 😂

Egbere

this is the enticing one out of all the myth story I heard so far, they call it egbere in yoruba but people do call it bush baby because they believe it is a dwarf that always walk at night with one small mat and also crying about in the bush as if it lost something. According to the story, this busybaby have a mat in his possession which they refer to as mythical mat and that is the only reason why people do look for them because they believe once you are in possession of this mat, you will be bountifully rich.

In Yoruba movies, when some guys were finding ways to get rich, they went to an herbalist to seek knowledge on how they can be rich, after the herbalist did what he will do, he ask them to enter a deep forest and look for this creature, they should make sure they steal this treasure mat by all means and they will be rich but they should bring it back for further instructions, after lot of attempt, they eventually stole the mat and the man said within 7 days, they will be in huge battle with this busy baby because he will try to take his mat back but if they get to hold it for 7 days, he will give them wealth in return for the mats. People believe this story and at some point do try to look for this bush baby.

There was one I saw on tiktok, the guy (a dwarf) dress like this bush baby, hold a small mat tied in white and was walking on the stress, people surround him and some were saying if it is the real one, they should try and snatch the mat from him to see what will happen, I was just laughing because even if it is real, you cant see it in the open except he lost his way. There are ancient ones I saw online too like the midgard serpent which they believe is circle the earth and lot more.
