From Likes to Lust: How Social Media Lost Its Purpose

The rate at which people use social media nowadays is alarming and at some point, they are gradually shifting away from the main purpose of having it in the first place and right now, we can't really differentiate between what is true or not especially when it comes to spreading information and like they used to say, fake news spread faster. There are times when people were careful about what they posted online, since they know people under 18years old also use most platform and can easily come across these things, morality reigned then but right now, it is gradually turning into past tense, immoral acts, nudes flying up and down online even on platform that shouldn't allow these things. Take X. (twitter) for an example, the rate at which X-rated content keep appearing on people feeds at times is uncalled for and they rarely ban such content or accounts nowadays especially after they monetised X and most people figured out that x-rated content now give them more views which means more money.

Based on the prompt, If I were to ban a social platform for life and never use it again, it will surely be a dating platforms or should I just say all dating platform. At first, I'm not against any dating apps because the main purpose of creating such in the first place was for people to connect, meetup and see what future's holds, and they also created it for people who find it hard to make friends offline since starting a conversation online is kind of easier. I have used different dating app in the past like Tinder, Bumble to name a few and have made friends from this platform but the negative part of it is higher than the positive aspect, people already spoiled these site to the extent that people now see them as hookup apps, if you mention tinder to anyone, they will say you are into immoral things or look at you suspiciously.

I don't blame them though, I only blame those that use the app for their X-rated act, but banning such app won't solve the problem, since we can't take the act away from those particular people, their mindset is something else, they will always find another platform to use. Now they are making use of Tiktok already, streaming and showing their private parts online under the name view once, and if not curbed on time, it will soon turn to only fans tiktok channel or something worse. The world can't be any better off if all platform get banned because of immoral acts without first cleansing those who engage in such acts (which is actually impossible to do).
