Newbies Guide | Setting Your Up Close & Personal Strategy

The season end is here and currently we have less than 24 hours left to claim those juicy rewards from the accumulated chest, even though this season is someone hard and I had to sell some of my cards holding to get some stuff but I still find my way back to the Gold league and currently I have just 100 rating away from entering the diamond leagues, getting that 100 rating look somehow hard and currently short of energy to battle with and already decide not to purchase energy for now but might change my mind when it remain few hours, I just want to manage the one I generate for now and also I had no plan to play in the diamond league than to just stay there just for the next seasonal rewards since the higher your league the more juicy your rewards might be.

This week, legendary soulbond monster cards have been shiny one me since I received like 5 of it, 2 normal cards and 3 shiny gold leggies which I don't know their fate yet until they have a market price which I know will be of great value. Checking out a ruleset this week and what to actually do when you come across such ruleset as a new splinterland player and it really work for the old player also, when they say following the ruleset and setting your strategy in line with the given ruleset always work best especially when you know the right cards and ability to use that will put your opponent at a good disadvantage. The ruleset I choose for the week is the Up Close & Personal rule set which only allow melee monster cards cards in battle which means there won't be any magic, range or non-attack monster cards available.

This ruleset is always interesting and it is one of the ruleset I love the most, you get to flex your melee monster muscles and see how good you are, in this kind of ruleset, there are some abilities that are in favour of the ruleset that you have to make use of it if you really want to win and there are some ruleset that you must use against your opponent to put them at far disadvantages.

Ruleset that can work in your favour

Thorns: Whenever an opponent melee card hit you card that have thorn, it deal 2 damage back to the attacker mostly
Inspire: This give all your friendly melee monster card extra 1 melee strength and using more cards with this inspire can make them more deadly
Shield: This ability reduce any damage from melee and range cards.

In this ruleset, it is really important to find a way to use this 3 ability all together in the battle to put it in your favour, then there are some abilities you must use that will surely put your opponent in disadvantage and they are the debuff stats

Demoralize help in reducing your opponent stats, in as much as you decide to use inspire to boost your stats, you should more demoralize ability also

I had a battle with a user, Goldgames and we had this up close and personal ruleset with the super sneak rule which give all melee cards the sneak ability that allow them to attack the the enemy cards at the back position, i see it as a good rule set because they really complement each other and we had a 30 mana cap, we could also pick any element except water element. Checking this out, I know death element is the one that have the all this abilities that I mentioned above so I decided to pick death element and showcase this strategy.

So I picked Pelacor Deceiver as my frontline, it have the flying ability which give it chance to evade attack from this melee cards and also backfire to deal 2 damage to any card that missed the attack, I had to put Cursed Windeku with the healing and thorn. I also use 2 monster card with demoralize which are Disintegrator that have extra trample ability and Harklaw that also have shield and immune which I put in the back line position. To make it even hard for him, I use a summoner with the -1 strength also, let say it is possible for monster cards strength to enter zero, there are chance they will enter zero

This really prevent in from dealing more damage because all his card only have 2-3 attack, that reduce all his attack to just 1, and using harklaw as my backline with the shield, it means they wont be able to attack me at all and the rest was history because I won the battle fairly. You will be able to watch the battle link here.

THANKS FOR READING! CONTINUE PLAYING SPLINTERLANDS AND EARN THOSE JUICY REWARD
