The season is coming to an end, just 5 more days to go and we all have to check out the goodies lying in each chest we accumulate, it is time for another splinterlands battle mage challenges and the theme for this week is the melee mayhem. This actually means a rule set where melee monster cards aren't limited to any position which means they have to power to attack from any position. This rule set is usually common unlike some ruleset and people always like making use of strong melee cards with huge attacks in this kind of situation but no matter how enticing it might be, there are ways to counter this rulesets.

Since it is the melee based ruleset, people always make use of melee cards the most at lest 60-80% while the opponent who already have the idea of what might happen will find every means to counter this setup either by using summoner or monster cards with thorns ability that will deal damage back to melee attackers and increasing such damage with amplify ability or try every means to reduce the attacks the friendly monster cards will receive by using abilities like shield which reduce damage received from melee and range cards, demoralize which reduce melee attacks by 1 while this serve as a debuff, there are lot of abilities that can act to your advantages which include inspire that give you +1 melee attack, blast and also retaliate, once you know all this things, you are good to go. Let take a brief look at my battle with Temin

we had another rule with the melee mayhem which is the fog of war which remove any sneak, opportunity or snipe ability from the battle leaving it to be a plain match without any backline attacks. We had 39 mana capped and we could pick from any element except death, since I'm after melee card with huge attack I decided to pick dragon element paired with fire and also picked Forgotten one as my frontline which has immune and retaliate ability, backed it up with Whelp Herder, a level 3 mana card, I purposely picked desert dragon because of the trample and piercing ability, I was sensing it will be of good use incase my opponent decided to amour up, Mordeus was among my option this time around even though it only have 4 health which is really low but the 6 attack is really enticing. After deciding to use just 4 melee cards, I picked 2 extra magic cards, technowizologist and spirit hoarder with triage and dispel ability.

He came up with some surprising attacks especially the summoner with enough speed and piercing ability, he brought in Grum flameblade, a gladiator but my stun card is lying in wait to stun any of the cards, the attack was short but most of my cards work hand in had, especially retaliate which dealt back some damages, the battle went smoothly and I was able to destroy all his cards within 3 rounds
