Whewwwww! God Damn @marshmellowman! The message in what's been said here is so spot on!
We have a whole society that has been taught repeatedly to comply without question. These people! It's the internet age and yet it feels like a new dark age night has fallen UPon us!
In a democracy this is troubling... because we only rise as high as the lowest common denominator... And the average bear in the forest isn't to bright!
This means that it's pretty difficult to live above it all... without taking a giant step away! But I believe that is what we must do sometimes if we are to elevate and transcend the stupidity of our times.
Recently I have taken this giant step... while also keeping one sensor in the water so I know what the masses are thinking. (This meme spoke to me actually.)
But I tell you! Detoxing daily. Keeping away from all those people telling other people what and how to do their lives. Just keeping my mind on track. It's become a monumental task in it's own right! Thinking for myself... Living free... To me! This is EVERYTHING!
I tell you... it wasn't until this pandemic that I experienced a sense of annoyance for the first time in my life.
And here's the thing...
People don't like to ask (or be asked) questions...
But I do.
They don't like to feel like they are wrong or that they might not know something...
But I do.
They hate it when someone contradicts them and gives them a new frame of reference.
But I do.
Because it's not what you know... It's what you don't know... and life is not so much about what's right and wrong like so many simple minds are thinking right now. It's more about the pros AND cons of any line of thought proceeding action.
So questioning everything... THAT is how you live a free life! And a free life is a life worth living.

It is the #DumbFall it seems. Access to reams of info but we, like rats, are trained to stay on wheel one.
"if we are to elevate and transcend the stupidity of our day." defiantly on point. If you and the best of you and i am the best i, we make each other stronger. There is a virtue in being selfish.
Taking a step away, or back from the plebes lets us all see better what is happening. Is that what you are doing? Yet, watching what is happening?
"Thinking for myself... Living free... To me! This is EVERYTHING!" It is I agree. Ones own definition is what defines life.
Questing everything includes ones own self and what ones own self owns definitions are. The fact that you can let others challenge you, is by far the best way to learn. You make some very good points that ring the bell of silence.
That time alone might have been the one of the best things to come out of all this lockdowns. Forcing people to questions their lives as to their own WHY. Forced self discovery so it seems.
I am glad i could spill some insight to wash the dirt away, it is not me though i just hold what was put in.
When a foreign object comes towards the eye it instinctively blinks. There is nothing selfish about that. I think of it much the same... When what's happening in society isn't healthy you need to be aware of it but it's always best to step away from the toxicity.
So yes.
I have been doing that lately.

I mean selfishness more in the terms of making oneself the better so that you call me higher by the virtue of how you live life. Self protection is selfish in a way but for a good reason to not go blind.
I am glad we are connected here and that the huge negative has spun a large overwhelming positivity for you and many others. That is the true sign of a mind that chooses.
That explanation of "selfishness" makes sense. I have to wonder sometimes... people judge others saying, "Your selfish." when meanwhile you look at their selfless lives and think, "There is NO WAY I want anything to do with THAT!" lol!
But yes.
Time to bring yourself to a higher plane can look selfish to some who are not wise the the webs being spun.

If you and i want the best for ourselves it demands that more 'best' is created to fill the demand. Obviously the definition of what is best for you and what is best for me is different but if everyone wanted the best widget, there would have to be more best widgets created. Not just for economical reason but for the demand of people creating the best of what they can trade for the next persons best creation.
It seems like most want convenient, easy, cheep...and they get that. That path seems to lead society to waste. The car breaks down more and more for it was cheap to make. If the car lasted for 90 years it would retain value and others would want it for it was made the best it could at the time and materials at hand and the minds.
It is a mental shift to demand for oneself. You are, as I read it, in your life, stepping away to see for yourself what You want, for what is the ‘best’ for you. A Magical path to walk.
Your thoughts are key and i thank you for sharing them. It makes me question mine and refine what i know. Making me better!
