My Actifit Report Card: April 21 2025 | The romance of Tunjungan Street

Greetings Hive worlds! It's me again, Iris from East Java Indonesia. I traveled to two different cities today, one is to Pandaan district for work and then because tomorrow I don't have a chance for WFH, so I decided to come home to my apartment.

I arrived a bit early today to avoid Monday traffic, so I got plenty of time to take care of my task. Monday is always slow because our State side office team still enjoys their Sunday night. Production was slow as well due to Tariff negotiation and we still couldn't ship our product. Just pray all nation leaders can come up with an agreement soon.

We only had a meeting schedule and a review of new hardware today, so after lunch I didn't have anything to do. Me and my co workers then decided to drink some local coffee in front of the factory. It was a very humble stall, under the cherry trees with makeshift bamboo benches. It was not really clean, but oddly still got the vibe.

My boss then told me that tomorrow I can work from home and since the day was still early, I decided to hitch my coworker motorbike to go to Surabaya and visit my apartment.

By the time I arrived at Surabaya, it was almost the time my husband got off from work, so we met at Jalan Tunjungan and planned some evening stroll there.

Jalan Tunjungan is also one of Surabaya's landmarks that was built during Dutch occupancy. However, recently the local government turned it into a tourism spot and a lot of new cafes, restaurants, and shops opened.

During the weekend, this place is very crowded with street buskers, flower stalls, and other street vendors. All the cafes and restaurants are usually full as well. But since today is Monday, the street was pretty quiet, so we can stroll leisurely.

We spotted a new cafe that had just opened that sells ice cream and coffee but we didn't try because I drank coffee before and just recovered from that nasty cold. But, it was pretty interesting perhaps we will try another time.

We often visit this street for casual dine out and buying things but today we just in the mood for some walk to enjoy the nice and cool evening. There were not many place in the big city like Surabaya to do so because usually the traffic was bad and annoying. On the other side of Jalan Tunjungan, stood proudly the Tunjungan Plaza, one of the Supermal of Surabaya. Next chance, I will write about that mall and show you around.

After some window shopping, we decided to come back and just cook simple dinner at home. The sun already set and the sky was so clear and blue. The street lights also lit up already, and that when this street is the prettiest, just right before the dusk settled.

My apartment is very close by this street. You could reach it by walking about 30 minutes - which we usually do, but today my husband rode his motorbike to work so we had to bring it back home of course.

As usual, I spent the rest of the evening to tidy up our little apartment and do house course while my husband cooked our dinner. The reason why we chose this apartment was because it is located in the heart of the city. But my favorite is the night view, really never get tired watching of it.
