It's really starting to feel like the Phillies of the past half-decade are really back. I hesitate to declare that, but the evidence is mounting and I'm happy about it! Perhaps in certain areas the team is a little weaker, but the emergence of Cristopher Sánchez and Brandon Marsh have been a great antidote for any mild team regression.

Yesterday, Cristopher Sánchez had another awesome day on the mound! He pitched seven innings, recorded ten strikeouts, and allowed just two runs. Offensively, the Phillies scored a solid five runs with seven hits. Adolis García has been noticeably better as he hit another homer! It was his seventh, and he's now homered in three of his past five games!

The Phillies are now 36-30! The Braves are 45-21 with now signs of slowing down but hey, the Phillies are hanging around slightly! If the season ended today, the Phillies would be in the second wild card spot!

Today Zack Wheeler is on the mound for game two, the Blue Jays are sending out Dylan Cease. Cease has been of the most consistent pitchers in baseball over the past decade. He's placed top-five in Cy Young voting twice, including a second-place finish in 2022 when he was with the White Sox.

So this could certainly be a good pitchers' duel. We'll see.
