Phillies lose a tough one vs the Blue Jays | Jesús Luzardo on the mound for Phillies in rubber match tonight
Ah yes, the Phillies have been up in Canada the past two games and it's definitely been a pretty competitive series.
After defeating the Blue Jays on Monday, the Phillies almost secured the series victory yesterday. They were SO close.
As I and many others anticipated, it was a real pitchers' duel between Zack Wheeler and Dylan Cease. The elite pitchers basically mimicked one another, it's rather crazy. They both pitched six innings and allowed just a single run. Pretty cool!
The ninth inning proved to be pretty dramatic after such a slow, yet suspenseful game. The Phillies took a 2-1 lead in the ninth thanks to a Bryson Stott RBI double, he drove in Bryce Harper.
But the normally excellent Jhoan Durán unfortunately blew his save opportunity in the bottom of the ninth. Brandon Valenzuela hit the game-winning single for the Blue Jays and that's that. Definitely was a pretty brutal game. The win was in the palm of their hands! That's baseball for ya.
The offense only scraped together five hits in the loss. Bryson Stott was two for four. Prior to Stott's ninth inning RBI, Brandon Marsh unsurprisingly drove in the Phillies other lone run. Bryce Harper had a productive day, recording a hit and two walks.
After tonight, the Phillies will be pretty much 42% through their season. It's crazy how time flies. It's a rainy, dreary day in Philadelphia, if the game was at home, it would likely be delayed. But it will be a chill time for me personally, watching the fellas while I hide from the weather.
Jesús Luzardo has been much steadier lately on the mound, hopefully he can come up big for the team and help secure this series and head into their off day on a high note!
#GOPHILLIES!!!

Thank you!
