In this time and age, the hustles and bustles of the day seem to have stolen some very important health tips from people.

The average human is only concerned about work, work and more work. The world is so busy no one wants to be caught bearing the tag of laziness. And because of this, these important health tips, among others, are often ignored. This is a problem because if attention is not given to these vital things, one's health may be affected.

The first health tip that people often ignore is adequate rest. Tell an average workaholic to get enough rest; it's like telling him to commit a grievous crime. The word, ‘rest’ somehow sounds like a taboo to people, especially those trying to wade through the harsh realities of life.

But if there's one thing you must know, it's that it only takes one who's alive to work and engage in tedious activities. Should you drain yourself completely, who'd continue the tasks unattended to? Someone else of course!

Rest can help one recover all lost energy. Rest reduces stress, supports immune function, and improves the overall performance of your daily routine. Research also shows that rest boosts one's creativity. Additionally, adequate rest gives your body a kind of glow. I recall meeting a cousin of mine yesterday and she made a striking comment.

“Are you on this side of the country? See how you are just glowing!”

I smiled deeply, as I could attribute it to the quality rest I've been observing for weeks now.

This is to tell you that the importance of quality and adequate rest cannot be overemphasized. It's good to work hard, but it's also good to slow down. You should slow down to recover and regain yourself.

Secondly, we tend to get so fixated and stuck with work activities that we forget to stretch our legs or go for short walks.

Let me tell you something.

When we sit or stand at a point for a long period without stretching, our muscles become stiff, preventing the free circulation of blood.

So while you sit all day before your computer system, continually hitting the keys, or when you stand to attend to a function, endeavour to take brief walks and muscle stretches. Doing this at intervals can help your muscles and overall body system work most effectively.

There you have it! Two health tips you shouldn't ignore.

I totally agree with you that resting adequately and constant movement are things we ignored despite the fact that they can improve our wellbeing physically.
