Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge: Battlefield Breakthroughs!
Greetings to all Hivegamers, Splinterlands players and my community in Midnight Letters! The topic for the Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge is about Battlefield Breakthroughs. Just like my post before, this is about new battlefield combos with the new cards I bought from the shop. It's like trying new openings in chess to play with. The games are new with more cards to play with.
Out of all the new cards, there are new combos to be had.
Water Element
The Water element is the easiest to play for me. Coral Forged is the most played new card. I like its Flank skill putting another melee card like Commander Slade or Giant Alpine Skink next to it. I had a lot of winning games with that combo.
The team I used in the game had Marlai Singariel archon. I had some magic cards in my line up but it had more melee cards. The reward cards made Water a more melee focused team.
Coral Forged takes the first position. His flank skill lets me play with two tank units in the game. His attack and defense stats are sufficient to play in the first position and absorb attacks. Coral Forged brought new combos in the Water team. It can be paired with other melee cards like Commander Slade, Giant Alpine Skink and Great Bear Druid.
Commander Slade is a stronger card and he can play behind Coral Forged. He can play in the second position and forms a Water element combo. Together, they are the frontline defense of the Water element.
Saltwater Mage has two magic attacks. She has the highest attack in the team and she targets rear units.
Surge Blade is another new melee card that I like to play. It has two attacks with charge skill
Water Logged Wizard is another magic attacker. Its attack is not that high. I can replace her with other cards if I have them.
Razor Hound is an archer with two attacks. It has a skill that adds life to the whole team.
My opponent also had two melee cards in front but his first position card doesn't have Flank skill so his second card is useless. His rear cards are archers with high attacks but I have the Saltwater Mage to take them out from behind. My team had better synergy that attacks from the front and back.

Life Element
The Life element is great with melee teams. The archon gives them armor and have a defensive edge against teams that do not use magic. Palimpsest Prophet and Phlegmor are two new melee cards. They have charge and sneak skills respectively and can combo with other melee cards. Further, a card with Inspire skill adds melee attack to the team.
Skyspire Leopard has two melee attacks. It has only five mana but has enough defense to play in the first position.
Janni Rebel is the key card in this combo. She is the only magic attacker in the team. Her Inspire skill adds one more attack to all melee units. I team her up with an all melee unit to take advantage of her skill.
Sherringham Logger has two attacks and sneak skill.
Vengeful Monk has two attacks and opportunity skill.
Palimpsest Prophet has two attack and charge skill.
All my melee units had two attacks and can attack in each round. They will have an additional attack with Inspire skill. I would like to include Phlegmor but the mana is limited and I can only put five cards in the team.
My opponent had lesser cards with only four because they have higher mana. He had an odd placement or maybe he misplaced his cards. He had his healer in first position and his tank unit in second. Then his magic unit is in last while his archer is in front of it. He had a good combo but his placement is not great. He could have won if he placed his cards correctly.
