The process of planting cabbage in my little vegetable garden

avatar

Hello community, I'm back with another share of my vegetable garden and my garden.
This time the sharing is about preparing the ground to plant cabbages that in my country Portugal are very appreciated throughout the year especially to be part of typical foods from my country like the Portuguese stew, or even the famous cabbage with beans.
We usually start to plant these cabbages in September so that at Christmas time we can already have organic cabbages as they are part of the food at Christmas.
Among these cabbages are the so-called heart cabbage, broccoli, Portuguese cabbage among many others.
But for that I had to remove all the herbs or at least most of them from the ground which is still a bit difficult work, I use a shallow hoe to scrape the herbs then I put everything in several piles and with the wheelbarrow I take it to an area that I have where, when it starts to rain, we burn agricultural surpluses.
The next photos that follow show some of this work preparing the ground for a new plantation, this time with cabbage, I hope you like it.

After the land is cleared of weeds, we start digging the same or there are those who use a motorcycle hoe that makes the work a lot easier to wrap the land and it becomes very soft to plant the cabbages.

Usually the cabbages I buy already have a little soil attached to the root, which makes it very easy for them to hold the soil well.

Below are some pictures of my cabbage plantation this year

One of the most important parts of planting is the watering process.

Finally and very important is to water so that the soil unites and joins the foot of the plant being that this makes that in this case the cabbages react well to the change and that its adaptation to this new terrain is well done because it is one of the most sensitive parts of the process, which is the transfer of plants from one place to another and their adaptation.
In about a week, the soil will be hoeed and some manure and biological fertilizer are added to help these plants develop and grow.
Then it is essential that it rains because these plants are very fond of rainwater.

My garden and my vegetable garden have always been a passion since I was a child.

I hope you enjoyed my sharing and I look forward to if you can give me feedback on what you think of my new plantation. do for me.
The garden has always been important to me and having a small vegetable garden from a very young age is what I always learned from my maternal grandparents.
So it is with great pleasure that I make this publication as it is one of my favorite pastimes where I am distracted and inspired by the garden.
I hope you liked my post and until the next share
