Artificial Intelligence: A Tool or Threat to Creativity?

If you're conversant with the creative world, you would know that this has been a topic of discussion. Just like the prompt highlighted, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already posing as a tool that solves the creative needs of humans, even those who barely know anything about the creative niche or industry. It's evident even here, as we see several images created by one AI tool or another to help communicate visually what our post is about. Well, I could say that thankfully, writing posts here with AI isn't allowed.

Many people, across different fields and industries are concerned about AI being involved in everything, plus taking their jobs. And to the one who doesn't know any rules in creative work, or even how to draw a line, they can do great things with AI. But the question here is, if much of that which requires creativity can now be done by AI, is it derailing our creativity? Is it somehow stealing it and hence, a threat to this creative ability we possess? Considering that you wouldn't want to spend time on something that can be done in a few minutes with AI, this topic is more of an interesting one.

When our creativity can be derailed by AI and it becomes a threat to that creative force in us is when we become so reliant on it that we can't do without it. Sad to say, it's the case with many. Some students currently do no academic work without a ninety-nine percent trace of AI. It's how much reliant we've become. People also don't care to think again. Every little thing, we run to AI for thoughts, help or ideas even for the most basic things. Such reliance certainly steals a person's creativity.

However, as we discussed some weeks back if AI is smarter than humans, I wish to come in that line to say that even some of our interactions with AI require a level of creativity to get what we desire and envision. Especially when it has to do with visuals and graphics. It's like thinking and doing the creative work in our heads, then bringing it alive through well-coordinated words to form a command for the AI to do just what was in our heads. AI should be a tool to enhance and support our creativity.

Yes, it should be a tool that supports our creativity. I wish it were just that in many ways. But it's not because somehow AI is derailing the creativity of many. Well, they're doing it. This is because, it should be a tool, a support, an enhancement, not the system. People have been creative before AI and people are still creative now, irrespective of AI even. How to stay creative in this luscious AI easy serving world is to always tap into our creativity. Use it always and make AI a tool, a means to an end, not the end.
