Female Advantage [EN/ES]
Female Advantage
I was looking for statistical information on global school enrollment levels, and according to UNESCO’s GEM2017 study, that year 9.7% of girls and 8.1% of boys were not attending school. From my perspective, that’s a high figure, and it seems to point to the existence of child slavery—something I hope this community will one day discuss.
These figures reflect a globally unfavorable situation for girls, which paradoxically does not apply to my country today.
Although we do have children and youth who are not enrolled in school, the latest 2022 census tells us that in the age range of 5 to 14 years, 9 out of 10 children are enrolled. For youth aged 15 to 19, that figure drops to 7 out of 10.
The positive aspect—at least for women—is that unlike in other countries, the female enrollment rate reaches 94.5%, compared to 92.9% for males. On average, women study 9.31 years and men 9.23.
While it’s not exactly news to celebrate with fireworks, it does show that the gender gap has been bridged. In the past, parents prioritized the education of boys, as they couldn’t afford to educate all their children.
Possibly, the free and compulsory nature of basic education has led to these seemingly positive figures.
The unfortunate part is that these statistics have been achieved by lowering educational standards to the bare minimum, through a policy of not failing students. That is, teachers are required to ensure all students pass their subjects, and attendance and having notebooks are graded. This means that simply attending class and owning a notebook can earn students enough points to pass—even if they fail their exams.
That’s why the level of education in #Paraguay ranks among the lowest in the world. In the 2022 PISA tests, our performance was simply mediocre, placing us among the worst educational systems globally.
In subjects like Reading Comprehension, only 34% reached level 2, while the global average is around 75%. In Mathematics, we did even worse, with just 15% reaching level 2. Science fared no better, with only 29% of students reaching level 2.
This shows that statistics can be truly misleading and that public policies are often used to produce figures that look impressive on paper but are nothing more than illusions in reality.
Paraguay may boast a high literacy rate in its statistics, but the reality shows that many of its citizens are functionally illiterate—to the point that even teaching graduates applying for public sector positions fail to pass the minimum competency exams required to practice teaching.
Ventaja Femenina

wow, graduate fail to pass minimum competency exams is really bad. I feel the school might not take notice to their learning processes and this must have affected them at the end. I dont beleive some can be dull not to pass, I feel every child is genius just depends on the style or way we teach them.
Yes, the problem is very deep, bad teachers, bad parenting at home, poverty... It's really sad than even going to school they're not learning as well as they could.

Lol its funny how the government manipulate paper but they can't do so with reality. This is one of the reason I do not listen to news because I cannot waste my time listening to lies. If it's any consolation, they cannot cheat life, as reality will always wait where they left off.
Yeah, that it's true, government says we live in a wonderful country but reality get outside and hits us on our faces!

😂... It's funny yet sad but then in the end nothing last as they will one day leave power and come to terms with the reality of their actions and that's enough satisfaction for me.

A complete overhaul of modern education is immenent. We're also trying to do our part by working on a global education initiative called school of unity
That sounds very interesting, could you please tell us more about unity school?
You can check my post on it. It still a Proof of concept. You can suggest ideas on how to execute it or help me execute it in return you get a share/stake in the school it's entirely merit based...
