Recap Of The Weekend Outing || IAmAliveChallenge #182 || IAmAliveAndThriving || 05.11.2025.

By this hour on Friday I and 9 other friends boarded the bus at Urua Ekpa bus stop, our destination is Ikot Nnie Itam in Itu local government area of Akwa Ibom State. Itu is one of the 32 local government area in Akwa Ibom that has produce notable sons and daughters who are today contributing greatly to the development of the state and country. The intention for this long journey is to comfort a bereaved family for the lost of their beloved mother to the cold hands of death - mankind last enemy. As at 5.20pm we have set out foot at Ikot Nnie Itam and I took my first picture of the street leading to the bereaved family house.

Because there were much to be done, we set to work and began tidying up the compound, sweeping the surrounding. The women were busy picking waterleaf, cutting affang leaf that will be use for the soup as well as setting up the cooking arena. The whole work took us late into the night that we Bearly sleep till 3am. As early as 5am we were up again to finish up.

Then some of us stroll out to see if we can get Akara and Bread to sustain the stomach pending when the food will be ready. Furtunatly we found this woman who is just setting up her cooking items. So we had to wait for her to put the thing on fire.

By 7.50am some of the food are already set as sisters work tirelessly to meet up with the time before the funeral discuss began.

Time To Go Bathing In The River

After about 85% of the work is completed, we guys decided to go for a cool bath at the river which we were told is a walkable distance of about 25 minutes. While on the way I took some shots.

Soon after we came to the end of the tarred road, we then began to descend down the valley.

And finally we found the water body and without wasting much time we undress and began splashing into the water, enjoying the coolness of the river, displaying different swimming skills.

I must say, we really enjoyed ourselves, then after about an hour there we set to return and complete what we came for in the first place. Unfortunately by now my phone battery is fast running down since there was no time to charge.

On the whole, the burial took place successfully, things went as planned, and once we finished attending to the invitees, we began to pack our luggage for sunward return to Uyo, our based.
