The day I had to pretend to be deaf and dumb to avoid unlawful Arrest

I believe security issue is a general phenomenon be it developed or developing nations.

The reason being that some security operatives are corrupt and as a result involved in a series of unlawful activities ranging from unlawful arrest, unlawful detention, indicting innocent people, and so on.

Some years back there was nothing like the Rule of Law nor the independence of the Judiciary in my Country but there has been a slight improvement lately.

The police officers in my country are just too funny, the way they discharge their duties is what I don't seem to understand till this very moment. For instance, if you go to the police station to report a robbery case, you will be arrested and detained, they tag you as being the first suspect.

If there is a case of two fighting and some kind-hearted masses help to settle the dispute to avoid what might lead to a riot, by the time the police officers arrive, they will arrest everybody present at the scene.

So what we do in my Country is that, we try as much as possible to avoid going to the police Station by all means but not in a violent manner because that will even lead to something far much bigger than you.

My issue of acting deaf and dumb happened when a fight broke out in my street and a guy was actually bitten to stupor, and as a result that led to something big.

When the case was reported to the authorities, they just came to my street with a very long vehicle, no investigation was carried out, and they started arresting any man or young man that came their way.

Report said about two lorries had left and those arrested were just looking as if they were on their way to a big crusade, no one knew what was going on.

When I got to the spot and discovered mass arrest was going on, I wanted to run but it was too late for me to do so.

I quickly comport myself and my instinct just tells me to act deaf and dumb.

Within a twinkling of the eyes, two policemen grabbed me, trying to drag me towards the lorry, I kept shouting

bey bey bey bey
bey bey bey bey
bey bey bey bey

One of the police officers said the one is deaf and dumb ooo, "black market" (I.e non-profitable business)

The other police replied don't mind him he is only pretending, still dragging me towards the lorry.

I increased the volume and added some spices to my "Bey bey Sound"

meh meh meh meh
bey bey bey bey
meh meh meh meh
bey bey bey bey

Another policeman said "This one is a mad goat", he shouted, free him let him go.

I was already sweating laboriously, and when I was freed, I ran for my dear life.

When I got home and narrated how I escaped the arrest, everybody around me laughed uncontrollably.

This shouldn't be funny, I mean, the situation of our police force. How they do their mass arrest can be really annoying. I just recalled the day they came to my street and packed people, male and female. For no crime done. Over 7 vans filled. My brother was taken along. It was around December period. I'm certain they made some good money. Detty December things😂😂

But you were smart.
Imagine been whisked away for what you know nothing of. And then you get to pay good money for no reason.😂

Anywhere there is a fight, I detached myself away from it, the police will not want to listened to anyone's opinion when they get there, but it will be a mass arrests for everyone who where there.
And if you did not have money at home, when it's time for bailed, someone would need to borrow you money to bailed yourself.

Police just turned you to goat, which one is "meh meh meh bey bey bey" 🤣 but in this country, just do anything to avoid police arrest o, because you will see hell when you get to their station
