Carmen's workday had just begun, she had 8 hours to earn the bonus that would allow her to enroll in college, but to succeed she had to make at least $3000 in sales. She was spinning like a top throughout the store, serving 3 or more customers at a time, using the best arguments to convince them to buy, always helpful and smiling. With an hour to go before closing, she was only $500 away from the finish line. The minutes were ticking away relentlessly, but the customers were languishing. Another 35 minutes and no progress. Carmen grabbed the most eye-catching and flirty shoes in the store, put them on and walked back and forth out of the store. Three girls asked her where she bought the shoes they absolutely had to have. Enterprising Carmen got her bonus which opened the doors to college.

La giornata lavorativa di Carmen era appena iniziata, aveva 8 ore per guadagnarsi la gratifica che le avrebbe permesso di iscriversi all'università, ma per riuscire in tale intento doveva fare almeno 3000 $ di vendite. Girava come una trottola per tutto il negozio, servendo 3 o più clienti alla volta, utilizzando i migliori argomenti per convincere all'acquisto, sempre disponibile e sorridente. Ad un'ora dalla chiusura mancavano solo 500$ al traguardo. I minuti scorrevano implacabili, ma i clienti languivano. Ancora 35 minuti e nessun progresso. Carmen prese le scarpe più vistose e civettuole del negozio, le indossò ed uscì dal negozio passeggiando avanti ed indietro. Tre ragazze le chiesero dove avesse comprato quelle scarpe che dovevano assolutamente avere. L'intraprendente Carmen ottenne la sua gratifica che le aprì le porte dell'università.
