Porter Time on #BEERSATURDAY

I have been on a roll lately with these dark beers which I think is appropriate as the calendar says we are in February. The weather has been rather odd this year, odd indeed.

On New Year's day the temperature rose to 80 degrees (27 C) which is quite unusual in my parts. Then, over the course of the last few weeks we have seen temperatures drop like a rock down into the teens. Again, rather unusual in my little corner of North Carolina.

Either way, since it is officially Winter I reckon it is the proper time of year to enjoy the darker side of beers.

BEER NAME: Thunderstruck

What? This is not an educational post, although I do believe that all "important" things can be learned from beer cans or in this case a beer label. So school is in session!

THUNDERSTRUCK: adjective meaning astonished or suddenly surprised so as to be unable to speak

Let me give you an example:

Got it? Seriously look at the size of HER BEER!

Class is over! Time to sit by the fire and DRINK BEER!

BEER NAME: Thunderstruck Coffee
STYLE: Porter
ABV: 5.8%
BREWER: Highland Brewing of Asheville, NORTH CAROLINA
APPEARANCE: dark chocolate and pours with a rich foamy head
AROMA: malt and coffee
TASTE: roasted malt and . . . . coffee
MOUTHFEEL: light body, carbonates well with a slightly bitter finish

Actually I am a little surprised by how "light bodied" many of these dark beers I have been having are. In fact, when I took a nice big swig, I was thunderstruck by how light bodied this beer was.
