Standing infront of a 2000 Years Old Tree, A living History
If you are standing in front of a tree that is more than 2000 years old, then you are truly part of the world's history, whether the tree is not so beautiful or renowned, but the sustainability that the tree has already shown is a true miracle of nature. And for you, it will be a lifetime story that you can tell to your future generation. And the feeling that you experienced in front of such an old tree is really indescribable, and it is further leveraged when you love exploring nature.
The tree I am talking about is a Locust tree and it's scientific name is 'Sophora japonica'what I leaned from the nameplate with a brief history of the tree. I have attached the photo of the nameplate with the history in later photos. The most interesting part is that the tree is from the Han Dynasty which is more than 2000 years ago and still the tree is living throughout such a long history.
The location of the tree near the Yanqi lake which surprised me as I have travelled by this area many times but I didn't enter into the deeper section of the lakeside forest area. But recently after so many years of living in this area I entered there and found this historical tree. I could not believe my when I read the tag that is saying the age of this tree is more than 2000 years old.
I read through the history and found that the tree has undergone one lighting attacks and another burning happened with a fire disaster in the locality in the prior history. But the tree has not leave up and still is is living after 2000 years. And I think it will live another 2000 yeasr.
As you can see in the pictures that the tree has a quite large trunk with a great radius but unfortunately the lighting has made it a hollow trunk that has been burned twice but still it is living which is a miracle in the nature that shows how the nature is so strong to sustain over so many disaster.
Also, there is an extension part of the root that seems to be very ridiculous in shapes and structural characteristics. may be that part could be the older main trunk that has been burned previously, but still some of the portion is alive and the Huairou district tsuthority is preserving it carefully.
The hollow trunk is quite weak and so the there is two external support for the tree so that it could survive more thousands of years and I think it will survive. Just look at the green canopy that it is still offering to the area. The lushed of the green crown is really beautiful an the shades of the branches is heavier in this summer time.
May be the winter can be difficult for it but I think it has proven itself as the sustainer, so it will survive with modern supportive care and Beijing is very careful about it's forests area. They manage regular irrigation in dry season and maintain the health of the trees everywhere so carefully to make Beijing a greener one with around 45% of forest zone.
I hope you like my experience and story when I explore the 2000-year-old locust tree in the Huairou district of the Beijing Municipality. I was feeling how I have become the part of the long history by standing in front of the ancient ree that is still living after so many years. I am really so filled with such experiences as previously I have experienced 1600 years old chestnuts garden and it is now over 2000 years of tree that really soothing. If you have any queries, let me know in the comments, and I will try my best to answer them as much as I can afford.
Thanks a lot for your time and attention. I will catch up with you at the next one.
Wishing you a good day!
I took all the photos, and these are my own property.

@tanzil2024 That tree honestly feels like a miracle when you think about it. Two thousand years is beyond imagination, and yet it’s still alive, still standing there as if nothing could break it. Reading your post made me pause and wonder how many generations of people have walked past it, maybe touched its bark, maybe sat under its shade. Trees like that carry secrets we’ll never fully understand, and that’s what makes them so special. Your experience with it reminded me how tiny our lives really are compared to nature’s timeline. Really beautiful and humbling share
Indeed, it is a miracle. Though there are so many trees at this age or more in deeper forests in various locations, experiencing in own eyes is really a different thing. So many generations, so many things have been connected to it that we can not even think about. Thanks for stopping by.
