Fighting a Meme Addiction
Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to lament about how little self control I had when it comes to memes!

Fighting a Meme Addiction
One of the things that I find interesting is that I tend to not have as much self control as I thought I did.. when we reorganized the house, one of the things that ended up happening was that I got a much closer spot to the WiFi router, which can be both a good and a bad thing. Good in that I get much faster and more reliable internet access but a bad thing because of the negative health consequences of being close to one. Alas though, you win some, you lose some.
With being much closer to the WiFi router, one of the things that it allows me to do is use one of the apps I like to use for memes because it's much easier and more satisfyingly when everything loads quickly and reliably. When I have poor WiFi connection, I don't usually bother trying to look at it and I spend more time on Hive because I'm not watching video clips or anything like I do on the other app.
The downside to that for me, is that I end up spending far more time on the app looking at memes than I really should be LOL I know I have an issue with that but I have a tough time breaking it! Memes are addicting, that's for sure.
Having a good laugh at a meme is really good, and I love the ones that hit you right in the feels for others. I've got so many memes on my phone that I likely have more memes on my phone than I do pictures of anything else. I guess I should go to meme rehab :D #addicted. That has been an interesting thing though, because I would normally check them out for maybe 30-45 minutes a day for bathroom breaks throughout my work day, so really not too long.
Since we shifted things around and I have unlimited access to them.. I have realized that I have less willpower than I thought I did! That's not good! I don't think that I'm really bad at things like this, I know that it could affect a lot more in my life besides just hanging out for 30-60 minutes in the evening before either going to bed or getting on Hive. What has really been something I've noticed with this is that it's been eating into my Hive time and that's not good!
I hope that it's something that is just a bit of a mental break from Hive and the routine I was doing before, where I would engage on Hive every night for an hour then write posts for an hour. Now I'm spending an hour looking at memes instead of engaging or writing posts lol. It's not the end of the world but the memes don't give me that much in terms of return for my time. It's a legacy application, so it's Web 2.0 or less in that I am the product and it's "free" because they are eating up the data I am providing them by liking things and they are selling it to the highest bidder, likely American government shell companies who want information on their citizens and their habits. Let's be honest, that's where the majority of the web traffic money is going these days.
In the spirit of these memes, I'm going to share a bunch! Sorry if you don't like memes, if not, you can move along now :D.
These memes are on ALL kinds of different topics and shit, some may be common and others are all over the place. Enjoy!

Haha I'm more of a reel addict - such a rabbit hole!
Are those the short video clips? I watch those sometimes when I see one that pops up that's interesting. Not too often though but I can see where it gets addicting!
Yes, on tik tok, Facebook or Instagram. God help us if they come to hive haha
It's interesting to see what people spend their time doing. I guess it all comes down to priorities.
Haha yeah. I really love comedy and a sense of humor so it’s given me a way to get that fix in without too much hassle. I could certainly listen to comedy skits but I don’t have time for that most days. I’m getting better at managing it though lol

Memes are so addictive. There are some of my friends who don't post their pictures or any other thing on WhatsApp but they prefer to post memes
That’s me for sure! Lots of memes lol
