Converting hive to hbd still isn't profitable, that I can tell.
Selling hive for hbd at 57, then replacing that hive at .62 on the internal market is a sure fire recipe for poverty.
You could probably arbitrage to external exchanges and make some profits, if you wanted to do that.
If more people did it, the peg would hold better, imo.

At .57 that's still 70 cents a hive, and you get the HBD for 1.05, so yeah it's still profitable. 57 - 62 is only 5 cents and 1.05 - 1.22 is .17. There is still profit left, ask @themarkymark if you don't believe me. He said in his post a while back as long as HBD is over 1.05 it's profitable, all things remaining equal.
As of 3 days ago I did it and it was profitable, I don't think anything changed really.
I just did some more, will see. I'm only doing it with little bits because I don't know if the internal market could handle a lot.
Math isn't my strongest suit, but I can't see how trading out of hive at a price lower than what it costs to get that hive back is bringing a profit.
Maybe Marty will clue us in with a diagram, or something.
It's possible that I have it backwards.
It's cause the first half they put the 5% fee in, but the 2nd half is a better exchange rate. I don't really know either, it takes a rocket scientist to get this hbd conversion math. There is more to it like the fact that we borrow the HBD which is shorting it and all this stuff. My math originally said the same thing that it wasn't profitable, but then after I kept being surprised getting more back I figured I was missing something. Yeah a diagram, or a formula that we can just plug the numbers in with our scientific calculators lol!!
Ok, so the way I understand it, we can't be getting hbd at a set price or the numbers wouldn't change.
We should get half of the value, minus the 5%(?), immediately.
We are getting much less than half, as the example above shows.
Then 3 days later we get returned the remainder of the collateral for the hbd loan as hive.
The actual conversion doesn't occur until the collateral is returned.
At which time the average over the last 3.5 days is figured.
If the price goes up, you get more than half the hive back.
If the price goes down, you get less than half back.
Are you still converting?
Yeah I think I'm going to keep juggling this HIVE and HBD around and around, where it stops nobody knows.

It may be safe, but better to use keychain, imo.
