The hive is a social platform, we should socialize, eh?
Presumably, the large active accounts will curate in a way to help get the content we all prefer to the trending page.
That is a presumption in the design.
I don't see that happening, right now.
It's never really been the case.
It has been some time since I looked on trending and found much that interested me.
If spam, circle jerking, plagiarism, and bad formatting weren't so rampant across the pool, or if enough people followed the downvoting trails, perhaps I could redirect some of my downvotes to the trending page to increase friction on the content I find banal.
I would gladly express my opinion through flagging the overrewarded posts, but what few mvests I have go to stopping the outright thieving some 'authors' are spamming the chain with.
At some point the crab bucket will deliver content that everyone agrees is 'good' content.
The upvotes will outweigh the downvotes rather than the futility of dropping a .1htu flag on posts with 150htu payouts outweighing the motivation to play this game.
This is the game as originally designed.
It is how we should all be playing, if we want optimum performance from the design parameters.
If you are not flagging content for your reasons, then you are not playing the game as it was designed.
One problem with this design in the hive, that has persisted since the ninjamine blew out the balance of the math, is that many people have enough stake to eliminate most of the other crabs.
It wouldn't take 10 of the largest accounts voting their full allotment to make this game not worth playing to more than 100 other accounts.
Fewer if they voted only their alternate accounts.
This is why I beat on the 17htu, 1000mv, voting limit.
If this was the custom in the hive, that nobody votes more than 10 17htu votes in a day, the pool would spread much farther.
It might bring more people into the economy we are trying to build.
As things have been many people have left.
The game wasn't worth the effort to them.
We should probably work on that as a collective, eh?
You are supposed to be flagging abuse.
If you don't have time to dyor, then follow a trail and monitor your selected flaggot.
Many people receiving those flags are hoping that you will disagree and revoke your flags.
You can flag based on opinion, but when you do, you open yourself to the opinions of others, who can also flag based on opinions.
We upvote based on opinions.
Why wouldn't we downvote that way, too?
