The Daily Meme #292!

It's looking, to me, like most folks here are new enough to not know the differences that have occurred to the math over the years.

We are to a point that the math of the inflation is a background issue, if you don't notice it, it just fades into the scenery.

Which is great, it has been a long time coming that there was this little contention over the split of the inflation.

One of the things I really miss is the 24 hour and 30 day reward pools.
When steem launched content was eligible for rewards for 30 days.
The first window paid out at 24 hours, but the 30 day window stayed open for a second payout 30 days later.

I'm not sure what computational resources that took, but I sure liked it better.
I wouldn't oppose a plan to change to a 7 day and 30 day payout.
Admittedly, until more folks are here it is really a non-issue, but an issue I think, if rectified, will help get more people here.
Nobody is going to turn down a chance at a second payday.
Gamify the curation rewards effectively, probably through introducing some level of randomness, and it can be a feature folks can be excited to learn to play.

There was also a hard coded posting soft limit.
After 4 posts in a 24 hour period a limit was applied to how much subsequent posts could earn.
I was in favor of that, too.
But, it got voted off the island.
Doesn't seem to have been a platform ending threat some might have considered it to have been.

Things were a lot more iffy back then.
There wasn't any guarantees that the platform wasn't a pump and dump designed to only fill the bags of the ninjaminers, but here we are coming up on 6 years later and still the blocks keep coming every 3 seconds and the price is not in a ditch, atm.

I'd call that a successful launch.
If you are here to read this, pat yourself on the back, we couldn't have done it without you.

Now it is time for you to step up and offer friction reducing changes that you would like to see.
Even if you can't offer a solution, feel free to criticize what you see and maybe somebody else will see the solution.
The hive is a team effort.

A side effect of the math fading into the background is that suggestions for improvements do, too.

If you see something you would like to see changed, now is the time to speak up.

Gosh, I am one of the news ones who haven't experienced any of the window payout. It sounded odd as I read .... No offense..... I was just curious how each of those 24 hours and 39 days payout pan out. Well, I can only imagine it now since I wasn't here to witness it.

However, my suggestion wouldn't be about payout or payment system. It might look like a centralized version of hive which I know it's not our intentions... We are trying to be decentralized I get this idea

I just wishes there was a way I can keep my friends closer. Don't blame me yet. I am used to how Facebook arranges my feed. If I liked a particular person post yesterday or dropped a comment or my friend and does any of these stuff, Facebook brings it up in my feed. He feels if my friend knows this person, I should too, and probably be interested in him. At the same time, since I liked his post or dropped comments a few days ago, I am mostly likely to do it again today, so he brings up his new posts in my feed. I like that.

Yet, I know this is as a result of the data he had stolen from us without permission. It could be a breach of privacy. I just wished there was a way Blockchain, that is hive, can take this a step further. Away from the stealing of our data or breaching our privacy, but, help me bring my friends closer.

I am only Following not up to a 100 person's and my feed is crazy. Sometimes, I miss out on the most important friends of mine. I could love a restructuring. Bring the ones you've seen me interact with over and over again closer. If I am doing Everytime, it means I like them, and I want to keep them close.

I really hope I am not out of line with this suggestions. I could use a few corrections though. Hive is amazing, but I am optimistic, we can make it more juicy and tempting for the rest of the folks who feel trap in their world out there

Thanks for reading.

Make an alternate account.
Go to hive.vote and set up a bot to vote your favorites with a low percentage.
Curate with your main account using the list made by the bot.
This is how I've done it for some time now.

If you can code something that does that for you, then you may get a pull request approved.

Oh no, sir, I am not talking about voting my friends alone. This includes engaging on their posts as well.

Then curation trails are probably what you are looking for.
Many do a good job of spreading the love, but I would still recommend an alternate account to vote with a dust vote to make a list of things to vote with your main account.
Communities does a fair job of collating content, too.

If you would like to see some features added, you can make a post and put it into this community: https://peakd.com/c/hive-102930.
If somebody agrees with you, maybe they will do the coding so we can all have the feature.
