Christmas Memories | Santa Claus Is Coming

Hello everyone, how are you doing, hope we are all preparing very well for the upcoming Christmas ahead.

As I reflect through my childhood memories there’s two annual event that filled my heart with joy and excitement, Christmas and new year I didn’t play with them. The best Christmas memories for me or celebration I ever had, It was long time ago in 2000. I could remember that year how all our neighbors buy chicken full ground including my parents. Jubilation, grooving, enjoyment and too much chopping of chicken and delicacies.

Back then I was still in primary school, My Christmas that year started with Father Christmas in school. However, that was the first and last time I tried to watch Father Christmas, because I was so afraid of the darkness in the room and the voice coming out from the darkness scared me a lot, that I had to ran out of the room but At least I came back home with a lot of gift like every other student, that alone is enough reason for me to be happy.

However, the Eve Christmas is another thing that make me to like Christmas, back then there is one daddy or man in our compound, that used to brought us Christmas banger or crackers and different Christmas gift, anytime he come’s back from Lagos to celebrate the Christmas, me and my siblings with his children, we’ll always found means to confirm if there’s going to be banger for the night, once we confirmed their’s cracker, we’ll let the remaining kids to know about it. So, that year Christmas the man come’s with plenty banger that we had to blow it from 6pm till 11pm. Isn’t a small happiness that comes when you’re blowing crackers in your compound, or when you’re doing competition by throwing crackers with other compound and your compound crackers didn’t finished on time or when you’re blowing it and other kids are begging to blow too or watching how you’re doing it.

The last thing that make me like that year Christmas is what my mom did for us that year, she make us our favorite local food Ebiripo to eat with the chicken soup and then make us eve to drink. That year was always on mind because of what my mom did to us. She starved a lot to give us the best Christmas that year, she no buy us clothes or shoe but she killed chicken, she paid for our Father Christmas, and also make eve drink for us. It’s not been easy growing up but there’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Till date, 2000 Christmas remain the most enjoyable Christmas celebration I ever had. What’s about you
