Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜

I'd normally be giving a quick update of my Splinterlands journey along with any ground breaking (or not) news about HIVE and the general crypto world out there.

However, it does seem that this week will be slightly different due to the changes in the weekly Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Actually, it's more like a blast to the past with the return of "Share Your Battle".

Long time veteran Hivers and Splinterlands players will probably remember a time when there was a weekly challenge called "Share Your Battle" before it was replaced sometime mid last year. Will this be a one time thing or something new (or old) for 2024?

Only time will tell I guess? 😉

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 113th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. I talk about what has gone on my personal Splinterlands playing experience, my weekly Guild Brawl Reports, and also any Splinterlands ingame news. 🎉🥳🎊

No week goes by in Splinterlands without some news event happening though. And here's my pick of some of the most interesting ones in my opinion. 📰📰📰

This week's Social Media Challenge is all about sharing our epic battles, so that is what I'll do instead. On the bright side, since nothing really special really happened in my daily Splinterlands daily grind, this could actually prove to be something more interesting instead.

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

⚔️🛡️My Battle Showcase🛡️⚔️

Let me present a battle I fought recently in which I used Grum Flameblade. My opponent used the LIFE splinter. At first glance, seeing an ALL GOLD FOIL lineup with high levels than me, I thought I was doomed. What chance did I have against someone who clearly out levelled me completely? 😱

I would say that Grum Flameblade was DEFINITELY the MVP of this match having single handedly turned the tide of battle. It's high HP allowed it to take all the damage the opponent could dish out and as it started raking up the kills, it grew stronger until it managed to eke out a win! 🏆🏆🏆

As you can see, my opponent used the Blinding Reflector as his tank, which was a VERY good choice, being a tanky unit with low casting cost. His Gargoya Scrapper was the secondary sacrificial tank with the the rest of the units being his DPS-ers.

The battle started out looking like it was already his game. First of all, his summoner and all his cards were at a much high level. At such low mana restrictions, he was able to field a swarm of units to overwhelm me - What chance could I possibly have? 😱 BUT as it wore on, I soon realised that Grum Flameblade, with it's superior HP compared to the rest of the units, was holding the line admirably.

At one point in time, it was Grum VS 5 units. And even after Grum took finally took down their tank, he had only 1 HP at that point! I thought it was over to be honest.

But that's where the magic of BLOODLUST came in. Every kill he made gave him 1 more of every stat. That additional armor and hp kept keeping him alive until he finally steamrolled anyone in his way.

This was truly an eye opener!

Slowly, but surely, Grum Flameblade wore down the opponent's team and the battle was won by a whisker! Even though I had a huge scare at the start at the sight of my opponent's team, the comparatively high HP of Grum (as it tanked it's way to victory) proved to be the edge I needed to eventually overpower my opponent. 💪🏻

💭🧐💭Ending Thoughts💭🧐💭

I definitely can appreciate Grum Flameblade and it's strengths. This is one of those cards which are very strong if surrounded with the proper team. The tank role it brings to the battlefield will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. 👍🏻 It's damage when left unchecked will also keep escalating until there is no longer any way he can be stopped.
