Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜

It's that day of the week in which I find the most interesting Splinterlands experience I've had over the past week to share! That fits in perfectly with the theme of the weekly Splinterlands Social Media Challenge too!

But first, a quick look at what happened this week in the world of crypto.

The entire week started off well enough. The impending halving for BTC kept the price relatively stable, staying around the $70k price for most of the week. That was until Friday when the latest inflation reports came in again. However, what really sparked a meltdown in just the past 24 hours was probably news that Iran had sent a fleet of drones over to attack Israel in retaliation. BTC had an immediate selloff and plunged down to under $62k. War is bad news and I guess this is another sign that we can never really predict black swan events which hit us out of nowhere. Could this also mean an opportunity to accumulate at discounted prices? Time will tell. 📈🚀

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 125th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. I talk about what has gone on my personal Splinterlands playing experience, my weekly Guild Brawl Reports, and also any Splinterlands ingame news. 🎉🥳🎊

No week goes by in Splinterlands without some news event happening though. And here's my pick of some of the most interesting ones in my opinion. 📰📰📰

This week's Social Media Challenge is all about sharing our remarkable Splinterlands moments. I'd have shared my daily and weekly activities in the past, BUT, usually, nothing really special really happens in my daily Splinterlands daily grind, so let's hope this is more interesting for reading?... let's get down to it! 🤣

We are into the 7th week of the change in League Level limits in battles. No longer are "low level" players protected by their league limits. This often leads to some very lopsided battles.

We've only had the GLINT system for a week and another hotfix was patched in mid season earlier just a few days ago. It was probably a nerf to most of us casual players but I can see the logic in it. Had the end of season rewards system remained as it was, I would have been on track to gain a massive 100+k Glint reward for my Diamond League placing in Wild. Considering the rampant numbers of bots using level 1 accounts proliferating in the upper leagues too, this would have been a disaster.

The current system still rewards everyone with Glint at the end of season, but it depends on the amount of Glint won from gameplay during the season. This means staked SPS and owned/rented cards takes on a lot more significance. More win multipliers lead to more Glint per win and therefore an even greater amount of EOS Glint rewards!

The verdict is still out though. I think we can expect a few more changes before this new system stabilises.

In the meantime though, let me once again showcase some really great underdog victories I have achieved this past week!

Let me present a battle (or some battles) I fought recently in which I managed, against all odds, to win these players who out levelled me on an order of magnitude that I couldn't imagine. Victory or defeat would lie in the small details. 😱

What can I say? A betting man would have never thought my level 1 team would be able to match, let alone beat, a maxed out level 8 summoner led team with the corresponding maxed out units too!

At the end of the day, what really won it for me was likely the fact that the ruleset BACK TO BASICS negated all extra abilities gained from higher levels. That still didn't account for the fact that the opponent's units were significantly stronger than mine stat wise pound for pound though. It was really close, and without that, I would have lost by a large margin instead.

Who would have guessed that my lowly teams would have been able to pull off such David VS Goliath upset wins? I guess nothing is impossible and sometimes, all you need is some luck and great strategy!

I definitely can appreciate how utilising the most of your deck's strengths can lead to unexpected outcomes. This is one of those situations in which Davids can beat Goliaths if surrounded with the proper team. The role every single carefully selected unit brings to the battlefield will give a player the edge in squeezing out every tiny advantage to get the win. 👍🏻

For any players who feel daunted with the new battle level changes, I hope this article has given you some insight into the potential of every single card regardless of it's level. 😉
