A sweet stash of beans from the shadows.

Its another week in the land of Hive, and im like a duck from the land of Oz. This is my entry for the #spillthebeans contest but this aint Kansas and there is no toto. No scarecrow, or lion, but i may just be the tinman....or maybe the wizard behind the curtain...anyways....first lemme make this cup of coffee.

1st....COFFEE

Doing a pumpkin spice to go along with the Halloween vibe here. Creamer (natural bliss), and a small pile of sugar because i need that sweet boost.

In the ol Duck Mug....because im a Duck too.

IN THE SHADOWS

The smell of leaves in the cold crisp air, as i walk through the forest near.

Apples on the tree fall, as my footsteps echo in the cold night, the weather clear.

Trying to maintain my positive thoughts but lurking is the essence of fear.

Cold, damp air, but everything will be fine i swear.

i hear....

Chilling words in my right ear and i look. I dont see anything. I need to walk quicker, so i pick up the speed. I need to get to our cabin a little deeper through the woods. An important delivery that i clutch in my hands. Through the trails that ive seen a hundred times, not far from home. The sun is already setting and it wont be long.

I hasten my pace as my feet scurry.

From the corner of my eye i can sense that i see something furry.

Is there glowing, yellow eyes or my mind playing tricks.

I dont believe in werewolves but im hoping my fears dont come true. Just my thoughts getting the best of me. Past this big rock and a few turns through the woods as i continue further.

SWOOSH.....SWOOP...

A gang of bats fly, disappearing into the distance. Theres a cave not too far where they roost. As if something spooked them. I can hear the whistling and whooshing as their wings flap and gets quieter.

Looking back towards the trail as the night grows darker when all of a sudden...

POOF.....THUMP

Right in my face, a pale character appears. No cape, but theres something too familiar about this thing. Im not scared but my adrenaline pumps. Ive heard stories of the vampire and i think that im faced with a legendary creature that ive only read about.

Im eager to speak but i hold my package firmly, as its my superpower.

He speaks and says his name is Ed. His long arms reach out quickly, showing a great strength and quickness. He grabs my treasure from my grasp as I yell ahhhhh.

Within my package the Jar of Beans. Not magical but ive been waiting weeks to try this secret blend. Quickly the Jar is broke as he....

SPILLS THE BEANS

NNNNOOOOOOOO I CRY.....

Its too late, within another puff of smoke Ed is gone. I hear the whooshing and whistling again. All thats left is broken glass but not a single bean. Well that's kind of mean.

Was this some sort of Coffee Vampire. Hungry for caffeine instead of blood. Hes left me in a rough spot as ive been on this adventure from the nearest small town to bring home the special blend of beans.

Without my superpower im not even a wizard. No beans in hand, i now run home. To return empty handed. I knock on the door as my wife answers, almost startled.

The beans are gone. We both sigh, sit by the fireplace, and hope that Ed is never to be seen again. Haunting my dreams that night 🌙

Ill never know the taste of that magic bean but i intend on trying this special mission once again.

As i closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep, i dreamed of Eds face as he stole my stash.

As he flapped his wings and away went into the night.

CRASH....

In reality, im sitting here finishing my coffee at work. No wife to answer the door when i knock either lol. Not too sure how the story will be interpreted but i can only hope it had you on a small adventure.
