Last Saturday, I met with my college friends as a catch-up / farewell since I will be flying to Poland to pursue my masters degree.

• Eating in restaurants without having to look at the prices.
• 6 digits monthly income (in Philippine Pesos) ~ roughly around $2k USD.

These are the short-term goals my friends had in mind when the topic of financial goals came up.

It's a great feeling when you can go anywhere without having to look at the prices first.
When we are tight on budget, we always look at the prices before selecting what we will order.
It probably came from a meme.

It's also a great feeling when you earn 6 digits monthly income in the Philippines. Minimum wage monthly is Php 13,000 so Php 100,000 (6 digits) is around 7.69x of the monthly minimum wage.

Fortunately, I have already achieved the first 2 goals my friends mentioned.

My goals

Mine right now is $10k USD monthly income. This can include income from Freelance, Interest, Dividends, and Royalty incomes.
I will then buy an island where I can develop it by adding a house, solar panel and water filter systems so I can live on it forever without have to leave it.

What I'm doing to achieve my goals

A. I clarify and make my goals specific.

I follow the S.M.A.R.T. mnemonic in setting my goals.

I am trying to achieve a $10k monthly income for 3 months straight within 3 years from now.
My planning suggests this masters in Quantitative Finance will help me reach this goal.

B. I keep track of my expenses and revenue monthly to make sure I am going in the right direction.

I made my own personal finance tracker in Google Sheets tailor fit for what I need. Once I got more time, I'll make a more generic that everyone can use.

C. I always find ways to increase my income.

Right now if I look at Income composition, more than 80% comes from my Freelancing. And there are still lots of time that I can allocate to doing freelance projects. So this is my current solution to increasing my income.

D. I keep myself motivated daily.

Personally, I believe that our mindset has a lot to do with the outcome of achieving our goal.

So I made a wallpaper via Canva to remind me of my goals every time I start my laptop.

As you can see it's a picture of Poland in the background and $10kMO in the front.

This helps remind me of what I want helping me to redirect my focus on my goal everyday.

Now before you trash me that I am a privileged individual, I would like to let you know that I am not from a rich family. I'm not even expecting any inheritance. If I got it all correct, I am the first in my ancestry to get out of poverty line. And yes, I'm proud of it.

I'm sharing this not to brag, but to hopefully inspire everyone reading this that anything is possible.
