Random views & Actifit August 10 2023
Maybe the road or the asphalt says it's doing well, I don't believe it, by the color of it, it seems to be a layer added quite recently (and by recently I meaning a new layer was poured less than 2 years ago), but still, take a better look, and I'm not thinking about the lovely green view ahead but about the cracks in the road. Yes, the hill is going downhill, slowly the water infiltrates the cracks and the hill decided it no longer likes the water-soaked place it's sitting on and decided to move further down.
Who notices? No one notices, except when it's too late and you can't drive anymore, in the meantime maybe another year or two will pass, a new layer of asphalt is poured, the cracks are cosmetically fixed, they disappear, but the hill keeps going downhill until that day... In the meantime, the water follows its normal course, all downhill, the plants go on with their life on repeat, they bloom, dry up and later start over...
This post was actually supposed to be about some nice views, and it still can be, but I got distracted by some cracks in the road...

Beautiful views my friend! Perhaps someone in the know, will notice the road before it slips away. We have some of the same here and it’s most times let go until causes a problem.

Friends of ours once told us to look at the base of trees…..
If the hill is sliding, the trees will correct and you will see a curve in the trunk.
Asphalt roads are built so cheap up here, all they do now is spray tar then dump gravel and let cars pack it down…….

Real asphalt is made using lots of crude oil, from $10-$20 per barrel years ago up to $70-$80-$100+ per barrel nowadays, who wants to pour/bury oil onto the ground/roads :))
