In the couintry side horses are still used, for work mainly, some people prefer to work with a horse than some tractor or other machinery. Not ideal, and they do clogg the traffic if they get on the main roads, but thats just part of everyday life around here.

I have no idea, but I'm sure they don't eat just hay but grain supplements as well.

Kind of like when we get behind the super duper ginormous tractors around here. You just wait until you can either pass them, or they turn off to work on a field. Just life!
