Lavender & Actifit July 3 2024
Just out of random curiosity, I found out a few new things today about "lavender water" and what can be done with it. Apart from giving out a nice smell in a room or on your pillow for better sleep, it looks like it also can be used for skin care, lavender has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, but it can be used for hair care as well. It also can be used for cleaning any type of surface as it helps with killing bacteria and mold, also if you use it when doing your laundry, apart from the nice smell it helps with the removal of stains. Hmmmm... want more? Here's more: it can help calm headaches and stress, it helps reduce irritation and inflammation if you have light burns or bugs/insect bites on your skin, and can be used as an insect repellent.
All these sound a bit too good to be true, will have to do some testing myself. :)

Let me know what you find out about lavender....
Now if it will repel mosquitoes you sold me!😇 👍
it does!!
That’s wonderful, I need to give it a try! The mosquitoes are terrible this year!🙄
I wanted to get a batch for myself to try, but I'll have to wait till August for them to collect the flowers and process them, they got nothing left from last year, sold out :))
Someone on here responded that they are really good to repel mosquitoes! 😊
I’ll have to give this a try as well, if I can find some lavender the mosquitoes are really bad this year !🙄
Around here, every year they rent a special plane/helicopter that comes as sprays "special chemicals" over the entire town against mosquitoes and it works, but this year that "copter" seems to be late.
I remember just after we moved to Colorado a low flying plane sprayed directly over top of our house for mosquitoes!🙄
I believe it was supposed to be kerosene back then ….. but directly over the top of our house!🤔
Ouch, kerosene? About what year was that?
1993 …..
One of the neighbors was trying to tell us not to worry about the plane, flying directly over our home with the sprayers running! 😳
Lavender is very versatile in it's useage! A lot of essential oils can be made into some powerful healing oinments and oils that benefit us greatly.
Look up thieves oil and what it can do! Back in the 1500's during the bubonic plague, thieves would cover themselves from head to toe with this mixture before robbing the bodies of the dead. They never caught the plague!
I've made this before, and it does indeed have some amazing healing properties. I can share the recipe if you are interested.
Excellent job with your 10633 @actifit steps for the day.
Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!
Huh, I wonder where did the thieves got the "thieves' oil", stole it? :)))
I think they are using some kind of a distillation process to obtain the "lavender water", but you made me curious about what/how you did it, please share! And what did you use it for mainly?
I used Cinnamon oil, Clove oil, Rosemary oil, Eucalyptus oil, Lemon oil . I also added Frankincense and Myrrh oils as well. Equal parts of the first 5 in drop form and only 2-3 drops each of the last two. I have made an oil blend for rubbing on the soles of your feet to draw sickness out. I've also put in a vaseline base as an ointment to heal cuts, pimples on the face and honestly, I use it as a night cream in the night after washing my face and then again in the morning after a shower.
What really amazed me one time with this, is that I had a container of the balm I kept at work. I developed in the morning, what would have been a big boil on my chin. It had turned pinkish and was headed to be seriously big! I put this on it and by the time I went home from work, it was all but gone! That really sold me on the uses of it.
All of the oils listed are anti bacterial, anti microbial, antiseptic and so on. I purchased the oils already refined. If adding to a carrier oil, you can use Jaboba oil, almond oil, coconut oil.
I still have that original container of the balm at my workplace now. I haven't used it all since it's been at work, and I made that container well over 15 years ago! No mold, no growth of anything on it! It truly has stood the test of time! It still smells as good now as it did when it was fresh!
Hope this helps! Take care and happy oil hunting!
Well, I'm going to bookmark this reply, I found out recently that cinnamon works very well as a general repellant as well, but I guess any plant with a powerful smell will work up to a degree.
Enjoy! I have made soap with it as well which helped one little girl is psoriasis. It's a good thing! Take care!

I never knew Lavender water was this useful. I have always disregarded it
Thanks for sharing though
it also repels those damn mosquitoes!
I put a drop of lavender oil on a napkin next to the window during the night. The scent calms the nerves and keeps the mozzies outside!
Now, that really works? I was only thinking of applying it to the skin, but if you say that works I'll try to apply it to my pillow and/or bed sheets. We don't get too many mozzies, but just enough to really annoy you.
