The masks are telling. The science shows that kids are less likely to spread COVID than adults, yet they are the ones forced to wear masks.

One a different level, I want to talk about how this photo shows how masks solve one of the biggest dilemmas faced by publishers.

We live in a litigious society. People can and will sue for numerous reasons. People have been known to sue publishers when their faces show up in publications. This is why you often see faces blurred out on TV clips.

The courts generally rule that while photographers have a right to photograph people in public. Publishers cannot use the photographs in a commercial setting.

So, what the heck is a commercial setting?

Well, you are getting paid in HIVE for this post. If you published a recognizable photo of a child without getting written consent, the parents of the child could sue you for posting on HIVE and they are likely to win.

The issue is even more problematic for NFTs. Creators need to get a signed release form from all of the models that appear in their NFTs.

Since the kids are wearing masks, the publisher can argue that the children are not recognizable and they don't have to blur out the faces.

This type of lawsuit seems to be less common. I remember it being a really big problem back in the 1970s and even the early Internet.

Anyway, if I was taking photos of politicians standing among kids, I would take full advantage of the masks because the masks reduce complaints that might occur when angry parents see the picture.

Very good point! I'll be more wary of this issue in the future, but yeah the masks will 'mask' their faces too. I'll consider this in the future. I'll probably blur their eyes or something like that.
