Push-up Progress, Recovery & 86.8 kg... my training diary entry from August 7 2026

(Here is another photo from my 54-kilometer challenge march on January 31st. When the photo was taken, I still had about 20 kilometers to go, and I remember already struggling with pain.)
Hi Actifitters,
since Garmin has been calling for a recovery day for a few days now, I gave in to that yesterday and kept my training to a minimum. "Minimum" means I focused on my push-up training and a Zone 1 cycling session on my new saddle.
Even though I didn't pedal hard or ride for particularly long today, I have to say the new Selle Italia Model X Comfort Plus feels good. Let's see how it holds up during my first long session.
When it comes to close-grip push-ups, I managed to log one more repetition in the final set, meaning I am now just one rep away from reaching the current interim goal.
The next goal according to the training plan (53+):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 12 | 9 | 9 | max (min. 13) | 90 seconds |
My previous attempt (51):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 12 | 9 | 9 | 11 | 90 seconds |
Yesterdays attempt (52):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 12 | 9 | 9 | 12 | 90 seconds |
Mission 80 (Day 40 = 86.8 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 / Total loss = 3.2 kg)
Happily, I can report a drop in weight again. After being very disciplined yesterday, it would be truly disappointing if it were otherwise. Compared to yesterday, the scale showed 1 kg less today.
After dedicating yesterday to recovery, I’m back to training today. In addition to a more intense cycling session, I’ve planned a short core stability workout beforehand.
