Close-grip push-ups and base work on the bike... my training diary entry from August 19 2026

(We have come across this cat several times while waiting for our connecting train in Freilassing on the way to Berchtesgaden. It seems to have claimed the local train station as its territory. This photo was taken at the end of April.)
Hi Actifitters,
yesterday was time for close-grip push-ups again, and I think I did pretty well. I ended up with four more push-ups on the books than last time, although the rest periods between sets are 30 seconds longer than at the previous stage of the training plan.
The previous goal according to the training plan (53+):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 12 | 9 | 9 | max (min. 13) | 90 seconds |
My previous attempt (53):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 12 | 9 | 9 | 13 | 90 seconds |
The next goal according to the training plan (60+):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12 | 13 | 10 | 10 | max (min. 15) | 120 seconds |
Yesterdays attempt (57):
| set 1 | set 2 | set 3 | set 4 | set 5 | break between sets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12 | 13 | 10 | 10 | 12 | 120 seconds |
In addition, I completed a base training session on the bike recommended by Garmin. This involved pedaling at a constant 150 watts for 80 seconds.
Duration - 1:25:08
Distance - 39.34 km
Elevetaion gain - 266 m
Average speed - 27.7 km/h
Maximum speed - 60.4 km/h
Average power output - 152 watts
Average heart rate - 122 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 138 bpm
Average cadence - 86
Maximum cadence - 96
Calories - 743
Mission 80 (Day 52 = 86.6 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 / Total loss = 3.4 kg)
After recording weight loss for three consecutive days, I had hoped to extend that streak to a fourth day. And sure enough, another 200 grams have disappeared since yesterday.
Today’s schedule includes a threshold workout on the indoor bike, alongside some light core stability training. I’m actually a bit apprehensive about it, as I’m supposed to complete two 16-minute intervals at 260 watts within a total session of just over 70 minutes. That’s likely to leave me gasping for air. I’m curious to see how it goes.
