One, two, three...Nine
It's been said that I'm a fucken idiot; I'm ok with people thinking whatever they choose and other people's opinions rarely have much impact on me - especially people who don't matter to me in the least bit, so it doesn't bother me. Some on Hive have commented directly to me that I am a fucken idiot and isn't it grand that people can be so expressive of their feelings...of course, it's doubtful many would say so directly to my face.

[Ok, for the record, I know how to count to nine - Just saying - I can count up to ten quite expertly as it turns out.]
Anyway, in the middle of June 2025 my eighth full year on this blockchain (and its predecessor) ended and I pushed into my ninth year; it's a long time I guess, and I never thought I'd be around so long.
My brother @tarazkp suggested all the way back at the very beginning of 2017 that I get involved and I thought, don't be a fucken idiot.
I'm very non-social-media oriented and I saw it as such, social media. After him mentioning it for a few more months I finally caved in and opened my account on June 13th 2017. With that date having just passed by unremarked last month I figured I'd better write something to underline the date, for the sake of posterity...although no one really gives a fuck I suppose.
I started with nothing, no injection of funds, just my words and images, consistency, intention to build relationships and make it a fun and enjoyable place for me; it's mostly been that, but not always.
Over the time I earned through curation and through authoring posts and the only time I've exited funds has been to trade and grow them and I have always powered back up...I believe in Hive so it seemed the right thing to do. I also like to support others and, of course, protect them from people trying to scam the system so having a larger stake helps me do that.
You see, I actually like Hive, enjoy it (mostly) and want it to improve and grow; whether it will or not isn't in my hands of course, so I continue to use my words, thoughts and images in my posts and comments and also my stake to add to, or remove from, people's content during the period allotted for that exact purpose. It's for the "remove from" aspect that people call me a fucken idiot, no one has ever said that after receiving my upvote. Funny huh?
I currently have slightly under 329,000 Hive powered up and almost 2,000 HBD in savings and while it's not considered a vast amount when compared to some others it's a goodly sum and I enjoy using it.
So here I am, a month into my ninth year and still enjoying it (mostly) and still being called a fucken idiot too...a chap commented that to me only a day or so ago. But what keeps me here?

Ok, maybe not exactly you per se. I mean people. Good people. Fun people. Interesting people. Engaging people. Intelligent people. Life-loving people. People with similar and different interests. People like that.
It's because of the relationships I have formed and the interactions that result that I stay.
Sure, some people I used to interact with drift away never to return...some for their own reasons and some perhaps because I stopped voting on them as much or as high as previously...some maybe because they think I'm a fucken idiot. That's ok, more room for better people I guess, and there's a few I really value, respect and would miss if I was not around. (If you are one of those you will know it.)
I'll eventually stop writing here, I know that to be true, and the reasons for it will remain undisclosed...but as long as I have stake I'll add and remove rewards on others as I see fit, it's my right. Remember that freedom you enjoy to think and act as you like? Well, I have the same freedom, and I'll use it. There may be some tears (from others) when I stop posting as my add and remove activities will change somewhat...but that's ok, people are free to cry; it's good for the soul.
So that's about it...I'm into my ninth year and, fucken idiot or not, I'm here to stay for a while longer so...well, people will just have to deal with it.

Staying here for so long and being consistent at blogging is impressive. For me it is always a bit sad to see big accounts who have not posted anything for years or have not posted anything at all. I know that it is their choice what to do with their blogs but at the same time I think that it would help Hive if those people led by example. If small users would see that more whales and orcas are active and engaging perhaps they would do that as well.
Ok mini rant over. congrats on being here for so long time. my Hive journey started in 2017 december. so my Hive birthday is still quite far away.

Happy hiveversary! 8 years is huge. I joined a year later by fortune and it's crazy how time flies. Even with its ups and downs it's great to see that Hive is still around, cheers to at least 8 more!

Downvotes huh. One of, if not, the most contested topic in Hive. What's funny is that a lot of those arguing against it frequently use the term freedom to post whatever they want, and to do whatever they wish with their account. But they conveniently seem to disregard that those downvoting are also just using their own freedom to do so. They're like kids having a tantrum when they receive a 'No'.

Oh yeah, I know what I am...and whatever others think or perceive...well that's on them and not for me to question, it doesn't matter to me when people that don't matter have opinions about me.
A few days ago I made my post to explain what the three years I've been with @hive have meant. I remember that, then I read some posts from creators who have been here for several years and, coincidentally, @ericvancewalton and you have been here for 9 years. That is 3 times as long as I have been here. I thought I had been here for a long time. What an illusion!
Many congratulations and, hopefully, you will be around for a long time. Sometimes people don't like to be told the truth and sometimes people try to change to try to please others. In my case, I prefer to be the way I am because that is what defines me. I have always said that whoever loves me has to love me the way I am, otherwise they can go somewhere else with their music.

Yep, people go fucken nuts when they see a reward adjustment and spazz out...the chap who said fuck you to me recently...as if that's going to make mattered better for them. Anyway, it is what it is.
I think and type fast so am certainly not spending hours on here per day, it's not worth the time to do that, better things to do. The girl doesn't mind, she probably figures it keeps me out of her way when she does other stuff. Lol.
I'll interview mine as part of my nine year post, I have a bout a month to write it.
She sees it as a way to keep me entertained and off the streets, I sometimes wonder if she knows how much this collection of bits and bytes means to me. Quite a bit.

You've spent eight years here, that's no small feat... it's incredible, and anyone who calls you an idiot... , that's just what they are... and you can tell them to stick that word where the sun doesn't shine.
13 June... that date is very important to me personally, a rebirth of my life... on that day seven years ago, I arrived in Spain at 2 p.m. I always celebrate that day, and it's great that you celebrate it too.
I think we'll all leave here someday, but as long as we feel good, enjoy ourselves, and grow alongside the people we care about, that's fine.

Though "fuck everything" is not my personal attitude, it's still intriguing to sometimes getting blown off like that. Quite refreshing in a society that has given way too much worth to diplomacy on the cost of directness (me included).

I'm a direct dude and that comes out when it needs to and sometimes under extenuating circumstances; I own it.
I'll be around for a while, much to some people's disappointment I guess...but some don't mind and actually find some value now and then and it's that which keeps me around.
8 years is a lot, if i think how was life 8 years ago it seems centuries not years... And reaching that stake in that time is a great result as you never injected money in, just author and curation

We've got a huge Italian population here, since the 1950's after WW2, and so have some amazing Italian food including bloody awesome cannoli. There's a shop not too far from where I live and all the do is coffee and cannoli. I got there now and then.
