SPS = Bitcoin of the Web 3 Gaming Wave

Web 3 gaming tokens are popping off left and right. While $SPS has jumped almost 200%, other newer tokens on other chains have already 10x'd. For the most degen of us, it might seem like a great time too sell your SPS and ape into to these new games filled with hype. Afterall...

Hype Moons Crypto. Utility Doesn't

I see so many people talking about how SPS is going to moon because we have a real product. "Just wait until they see that we've built this complex economy while the other are still soon™️"

I equate this to the same thinking that makes people believe that cheap assets will attract tons of new players. This is not how markets and crypto work. FOMO follows the promise of something great because what's in our head as a possibility is way more exciting than anything in reality. This is why most movies suck compared to books.

When something already exists, there's no wait and wonder. For example, we were told for a year what land 1.5 would be. People were SOOOO excited for it. Now many of those people are disappointed because its not what they imagined it to be. Its exactly what you were told for a year though. People buy into hype of things to come, not what's already there.

We're Early

Now there is hype for what's to come in Splinterlands still. That's what "we're early" is all about. That phrase allows degens to stick around projects that already exist. In Splinterlands case, we have land 2.0 and the dream of going mainstream to look toward but the fact that it exists and hasn't taken over the world is a damper on moon FOMO.

However, even though SPS will probably not soar to the heights of some of these new tokens in the short term, I hold it for the same reason I hold bitcoin . It's a known quantity. Bitcoin isn't going to make you nearly as rich as choosing the right altcoin but because of its position, its got the best shot at making you money without bankrupting you. In this fledgling world of web 3 gaming, with all its hype and promises, SPS is like Bitcoin. I'd rather hold it then go bet on a bunch of moonshots with nothing to back them but hype.

But that's just me.
