Three Tune Tuesday with Vince Clarke!

Today I thought I might get this account active again by participating in Three Tune Tuesday. Many of you out there many have never heard of Vince Clarke but he was a member of three big bands in the early 1980's, bands like Depeche Mode, Yaz, and Erasure. All three were very influential bands throughout the decade of excess!

Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode formed in 1980 in Essex, England by a group of four friends that literally shot from unknowns to being one of the biggest bands in the world at 18 years of age. Vince Clarke was their primary songwriter in the beginning, but as they shot to stardom he didn't embrace the experience like the other three and felt things were happening too fast. He chose to leave the band after their first big album and tour. After his departure Depeche Mode's music turned much darker since Clarke was no longer the principle song writer. But here is one song he wrote that I'm sure everyone has heard before, "Just Can't Get Enough".

Yaz

After his departure from Depeche Mode he started up a band named Yazoo with Alison Moyet. The name was later changed to Yaz after another band sued claiming it was their band name. They produced a couple of great albums, the first being Upstairs At Eric's which quickly shot him to success on the music scene once again. After the two albums they both moved onto other projects, but here's a great song that Clarke had written as well, "Only You".

Erasure

After Yaz Clarke formed a new band with lead singer Andrew Bell calling themselves Erasure. They had a streak of hit songs throughout the eighties and became Clarke's most successful band that he chose to stay with (since he left Depeche Mode which was of course much bigger.) If you aren't familiar with Erasure they are well worth checking out. You probably have heard many on their songs over the years since they have remained popular in some films. Here's one of their bigger songs by the name of "Sometimes".

Sometimes

In summary Vince Clarke was one of the most influential song writers of the 1980's. Even if you don't recognize his name you will definitely recognize many of the songs produced over the years.

I really enjoyed sharing the pictures of the bands today, you can see the evolution of the hair styles from the early to the mid 1980's! Those hair styles in the early 80's were interesting to say the least...

Thanks for stopping by and taking a listen to my selections written by Vince Clarke. I want to send a than you to @ablaze for sponsoring Three Tune Tuesday! Have a great Tuesday everyone!
