Happy Birthday To Me

Wow, 2 years already, I knew the day was approaching, but it slipped my mind until I saw this notification pop up.

I figured this song would be appropriate for today.

Two Great Years, and Many More To Come

Looking back over my Hive journey, there have been so many ups, and no downs. I remember first coming onto the chain and starting out with my posting, which I think was a gaming post about the Halo: Infinite campaign as it hadn't long been released. The post did pretty well and I got a fair bit of engagement on it. I was pretty blown away by this place after that, and I was able to meet a lot of cool people from the community who shared similar gaming interests.

Some of the comments referred me to a couple of Discord servers, namely The Terminal, where I spent a lot of time meeting people and asking questions.

My second post was an introduction post, as recommended, and I was able to talk candidly about myself and my interests. From what I studied in college, TV and Film Production, to my band I've been with for years, and in general, just the kind of stuff I like, and had done up to that point.

Here's a picture of me playing at the Rebellion Festival this year, which had been something I've always wanted to do.

My Introduction Post
I think it was pretty decent, and I gave a good rundown of myself. I have often thought of creating a more up-to-date introduction post, as - like many people - life has changed a fair bit in the last couple of years, and I have more stuff to talk about.

From the introduction, my engagement was pretty astounding, and I got to meet even more cool people whom I still chat with regularly, and who have also helped me find my feet while navigating this cool place.

Is Hive Still Fun?
I was asked this the other day, and it got me thinking. I mentioned about daily posting that I've been doing since January, and I'm here in the final month and very close to achieving my badge.

Hive is still fun for me, and even though I'm trying to juggle the posting with everything else going on in my life, I've never gotten to the end of a day and said, feck it, I'll let the posting streak drop because I just can't be arsed.

I've maintained my enthusiasm, and Hive - to the bemusement of some people in my life - is a constant topic of conversation when I talk with friends or family.

I honestly think everyone should be on here, and I'd love to have some people I know irl on here. Imagine having a Hive meetup every time you go out with friends to the pub or dinner. It would be pretty cool.

Sadly, only a few people have joined, and out of those few, none have kept posting. One done a good few posts, but inevitably gave up, but I still encourage him to get on and share some of his adventures up here. As I've told him, rather than flicking through some pictures on Instagram, I'd like to read about the journey as each picture is shown. I can't force him, so I'll just have to wait, and hope he comes back.

Here's an unflattering picture of me with the two most important people in my life, when we went out to a pumpkin patch this year.

The Stuff I Post
I tend to go through phases, but currently, I'm in the phase of posting a lot of fiction while completing this Novella I've been working on. However, I do bounce into phases of writing Film, TV, or Game reviews. Sometimes I write rants, and sometimes I blog about places I've gone to and share pictures. Other times I share videos, and I also share the process of making clay models.

All of these things are things I love, and I don't force myself to do any of those things or write about any of them. I think that's the secret sauce when it comes to social/ blogging/ whatever this place is.

I don't chase trends, or mimic what I see other people doing. I just write about whatever's on my mind that day, and try and make the posts look good. I don't think I give 100% - I'd be lying if I said I did - I give about 60% and that suits me in most aspects of my life.

Well What's The Take Home From This?
I don't know really. I love Hive and everyone here, I've enjoyed my experience of the last few years. I remember my first day/ week/ month as if it were yesterday. I can't believe it has been two years, but then again a lot has happened so it does kind of feel like two years.

Most of the things that happen in my life are shared here with you beautiful people, and I have been given some amazing advice by so many of you which I recall often. Thanks for everything!

Oh Killer, it's so lovely to have you around this long and this consistent. You were one of the first people that showed a lot of support when I was a consistent inkwell writer. And your stories that infused sci-fi and the alien world were consistent sources of delight to me. I'm glad this here has been a good one for you. And that you're this dedicated to the things you love. All the best in the coming year.🤗🌺

Thank you so much for your great comment! You have been doing so great here on Hive, and your writing has always been such a page-turner (I don't know what the digital equivalent of that saying would be, maybe page-scroller !LOLZ )

Hive is such an amazing place, with so many great people in it, and everyone I have met has been such great friends.

Congrats! You've been amazingly consistent and I'm glad it's still fun for you. I think we have great people here and just need more of them. Not everyone is a blogger, but I'd come back just to see what's on my feed. Hive may not be where I might have hoped, but I'm enjoying it too.

That's very true man, not everyone can be a blogger, but it's great to even be here to find out whether or not we are. Blogging was always something I thought I'd like to do, but until finding Hive I never tried it out. The great thing about being here is the communities which give us the option to write many different forms of content, if it weren't for that I may have run out of things to write about within my first month or so.

Great to see, and you just hang in there, because as the years pass, you will continue to grow.
Remember that we were all in the same situation when we started years ago !LOL

Absolutely! I've read a few people's stories of their humble beginnings here when they first joined, I love reading that kind of stuff, as it can be pretty inspiring in a way.

Onwards and upwards!

Absolutely. I want to keep my Hive powered up so my vote is higher, and I have more of a say on chain, but also with that, i want to get the APR rewards that come with voting.

Also, even if I needed it, I wouldn't sell my Hive now because it's extreamly undervalued and with the Bull around the corner, now is the worst time to sell anything, so I'm diamond hands all the way haha

Happy two years birthday on hive, it really nice to be here. You have really make a great impact and was Patience, alot of people that join two years ago are no longer on hive because of one or two reasons.

Thanks so much! I know a good few people who I got on well with when I first joined, but they slowly started writing fewer and fewer posts until they stopped completely, hopefully, they'll find their way back here when the time is right for them.

Congrats. Happy Hive-aversary! It does take some time to include Hive in your life, but I think its worth it and good fun still.

It is absolutely worth it, I think though, when I get my yearly posting badge I'll slow down a bit with my posting, although, maybe I'll go for a second yearly badge. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Thanks so much for your comment!

Happy Hive B-Day to youuuuuu! 😃 🍸 🎁

Nice to meet you! I don't know how I didn't get that you have a band and playing a guitar... And regarding onboarding friends, many of us failed to do that...
So, I did the opposite... Instead of getting with my old friends talking about HIVE in a bar, I met some Hivians IRL and went with them to a bar to talk about HIVE... hehehehe

I hope that we will have a drink once (or twice, or... 😃)!!

I play in two bands, who knows, maybe at the next Hive Fest if there's room for some live music I might suggest my band going over and playing. I've been talking with the lads about making a band account here, where we can upload our music videos to 3Speak, and write about different things on the blogging side of things.

I really wanted to go to the Amsterdam Fest, but I had a bunch of stuff going on and it wasn't possible, and then the last one over in Mexico would have been amazing, but I didn't have the money to go to it. Hopefully, this coming year will be my time to get to it, and meet everyone!

100% man, a few brewskies wouldn't go a miss!

That is a great idea! TDC Tunes (@tdctunes) did a great job in Amsterdam HiveFest last year, so why not?! We find 2-3 more musicians, and it could grow into a music festival! 😃

Oh man, I was thinking of that before, imagine if the Hive Fests had a music side to it too, where musicians of Hive get together and jam/ form bands to play it. Could be a good way to encourage more musicians to come and check the place out too.

Congrats on your Hiversary! Hive needs more passionate people like you who enjoy being on Hive coz it's fun and they genuinely like it. Too many people have just one sole objective here, to chase after rewards and nothing else. And to an extent thats what contributes to the slow growth of Hive.

Hope to continue see you around for the next xx years!

I'll be around for many years to come, I'm essentially addicted to it at this point.

Too many people have just one sole objective here, to chase after rewards and nothing else. And to an extent thats what contributes to the slow growth of Hive.

I agree with you here. Yeah, it's definitely a contribution to the slow growth. I've always been mind-blown about how genuine people can be here though. Like everywhere, there may be some bad eggs, but for the most part, we have a really cool community of people.

It's an enjoyable place, and I've always had the attitude that I'd rather be creating content and writing stuff that I like, instead of forcing myself to do stuff I don't understand or enjoy making.

That means a lot coming from a complete word-smith such as yourself. Your writing has inspired me so much since being here, and you have not only inspired many posts from your prompts but even having our chats has really given me some food for thought! You're a legend.
