The Hero of Trisk

Herzert of the Dead Lake Brood is one of the last standing heroes of Trisk, and he became a noteworthy adversary during The Confederation Invasion.

Herzert had a long history and was known for many misdeeds on his homeworld and throughout the wider Free Space area. His favoured crime was illegal weapons manufacturing, testing, and smuggling. Narcotics were second on the list of goods he regularly transported.

Over the years of working in the "Shadow Network" - underworld contacts and connections - he built up trust among the unknown, and that allowed him to have many people on hand whom he was able to call upon when things heated up between two of the galaxy's major factions.

All of his work had been done in secret, but when the war came he came out of the shadows with newfound patriotism.

Using his connections he was able to call in shipments that could be used to defend his world, including much of his own supply which was used to arm his small militia, which soon ballooned to a full-scale defence force.

The Assault of Trisk

Trisk as a world was little more than a muck ball to most. Its nation spanning marshes and bog-land meant that much of the world was unable to be built upon. The area that was, however, quickly grew into a megacity - although, one which couldn't tackle to verticality of a typical city, due to shallow foundations.

This nation city was the target of The Confederation forces, but knowing that it would be heavily defended, the first wave landed troops far beyond the borders of this place. The Wildlife and ambushes killed most of the personnel, and most of the machinery sank after becoming lodged in the mud.

The second wave was even worse. As the larger ships attempted to land they were blown out of the sky, and within a short space of time most of their forces had been dealt with. The survivors did what they could to survive.

After these failed attempts, reinforcements arrived, but rather than sending another wave, they decided to send on the crew to kill Herzert and allow for an invasion force to land.

The Empty Streets

Herzert - prior to the first wave - had most of the world's civilians evacuated to safer worlds, however, safer worlds were hard to come by at this stage.

The Trisken people spread out in all directions, and are one of the most prevalent races of Free Space, after Humans. Many Triskens owe their lives to him, and his ragtag group of criminals.

Because of his past, a lot of Triskens claim that they too would want to follow in his footsteps, living a life on the wrong side of the law.
