Lost For Words - Part 4 (Short Story)

(Edited)

This is a story I'm writing as part of NaNoWriMo, which is a month-long event where writers from around the world focus on writing each day of the month of November in order to finish, or create a piece of fiction.

I did start this story before November but decided to use this month to try and get this one finished, or at least get a good bit of it written.

Shoved awake, Andron looked around in a daze. "Where am I!? Captain, I've infiltrated the compound, and will report in soon!" He cried, staring around in a blurry bubble of unconsciousness.
The lights, the noise, the people. It all seemed as though he was a child again. Ships streamed overhead, shining a light on the carnage below as they sifted through the devastation of the city looking for any signs of life. He could remember the Talirda Guard entering the crumbling and collapsed ruin of his house. Andron was far too afraid to speak, too scared to cry. The only thing he could do was stare at them, and think it was Confederation Troops, coming to kill him. The sole survivor of his household. Bright torch lights shun across the room and finally landed on his face. The people behind the torch were blacked out, and it was all he could do to raise a hand to block it out. A grimy, dusty, blood-stained paw. A tiny thing as it was.
       "One survivor!" Some shouted.
"Put that torch down," A commanding voice said loudly. "It's a kid."        The torchlight dropped, and he could finally see people in a military garb. One Human stood out among the rest of the Free Space races. A worn face, tanned skin, short dark hair - greying. He stood tall but was relatively thin in frame, although, back then, everyone seemed taller and bigger than Andron, he was small in comparison.
The man slowly strode toward him, and then knelt down. "Are you here alone?" He asked as he glanced around the ruined room.
"Sergeant," someone said quietly from behind. The word started with a hiss, and Andron knew it was a Trisken.
The Sergeant turned briefly, and then looked to where a light was shining in the corner of the room that had some rubble and debris piled high. Andron turned to follow his eyes too, but before he reached it he felt the Sergeant's hand cover his face. "Time to go."

"Come on, you hear me!? I said time to go!" A man shouted, and Andron stared up at him.
"What?" He asked in a daze, as he looked around at the club. Lights flicking in the background in sync with the heavy base thuds coming from the dance floor speakers.
"Are you deaf! I said time to go! I'm not going to stand here all night." The man said in a frustrated tone as he looked around briefly. "If I have to tell you again, I'll be calling for security. You wouldn't want that would you?"
"Why am I being kicked out?" Andron asked as he looked down at the bar.
"Do you want me to write a list? You've fallen around making a mess of yourself, sleeping on the bar, you look a state, and you smell of piss." The man said as he crossed his arms. "Would you like me to continue?" He said while staring him up and down. "Our unwritten policy is no deadbeats, and no OD's. You take too much, you get tossed into the gutter to die."

Andron sighed, and stood up. He felt his trousers stick to him, and laid a hand on them instinctively. Wet, and slightly warm. "I think someone pissed on me." He said, in a slightly shocked voice as he raised his hand to give it a sniff. It definitely wasn't Human piss, far too acidic. He'd been around Triskens long enough to know the smell of their urine. Did M'Trada do this? Some kind of prank perhaps.
"Yeah, I'm sure someone pissed on your crotch, that's the most logical conclussion."
"No, seriously, it smells like Trisken piss." He said as he raised a hand to the man's face.
Reeling back in horror to the approaching pissy hand, he pointed a finger at Andron while at a safe distance. "You're out! I'm getting security!" He said as he took off briskly.
Andron looked around the bar, and then walked to the dance floor to get Mari so the two of them could split before the heavies came along. There was no sign of her whatsoever. Everywhere he looked, she wasn't there. I'll try to get out of here of my own accord, might save me a kicking.

The hall leading to the front door was full, and beyond every person he expected to see the bar staff who ran to find security. He didn't though. All he saw were patrons.
Reaching the exit, he saw it was guarded by the same two security guards whom they passed by to get in. He walked past and felt a hand on his chest stopping him. "Where are you going, Human?" The Trisken asked.
"Just leaving," he replied, as he looked at the Human who was talking quietly on a communicator. Soon the man finished speaking and looked at the Trisken while shaking his head.
"You're not going anywhere just yet."

Why are they stopping him? They guys inside wanted him gone. And where is Mari? I hope things get better soon and the three friends can reconnect.

Haha it'll all become clear in the next - and potentially - final part to this chapter. From here we'll go back to M'Trada and see what he is getting up to.

I think what we have is, end this, M'Trada, back to Andron, then end the novella on another M'Trada chapter. It'll only be short, but based on my rough outline that's how it's going to go. I was thinking of jumping to Mari for 1 chapter, but I'm not sure if I really need to do that.
