Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Bass Cover)

Here's a bass cover of Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics; it's one we decided to learn and play as the cove band. Upon first learning this one I was pretty intimidated by it and just couldn't really get the hang of it, but once I got the riff down, it was a lot easier. I find with this one, once you're in the zone of playing it, the whole thing becomes much easier and you barely have to think about it, and just let it play out.

I did have trouble with the initial change into the chorus and that took me a few weeks to get used to, as the finger placement for the chorus of the song is a pretty tough one to hit, and the notes of the chorus, especially on bass have to hit that mark straight away.

Upon First Learning It

I went out and said to the others that I kind of have it, and I'm sure they were expecting it to only be about 60% there, but I managed to play it completely the first time around, bar a few minor trip-ups.

The guitar player straight away looked at me when I cracked it out, and I was like "It's a bit rough and I found this one tough to do because it doesn't feel comfortable to play, almost like it wasn't meant to be played on a bass." he just laughed and said, "It isn't, it's supposed to be played on a keyboard."

Playing It Live

This one seems to get a warm reception from people, as pretty much everyone knows it, and typically it isn't the sort of thing you'd hear in the pub, which means it's right up our street.

When we first got the cover band together, we had the intention of playing pub gigs and making a few bob for doing so - because, in all honesty, trying to make some money with music kind of requires you to play other people's songs. But, in saying that, we didn't want to go the route of most other cover bands, where they only play the typical set, and instead chose to have some fun with it and play the sort of songs we enjoy and that you wouldn't hear that often.

While it's great to do that, it has taken us a while to get our set together, whereas if we chose easier songs we would have had the 2:30 hour set in about 6-9 months.

Currently, we're at around 1:30 minutes, and it is a lot of fun to play really, there is something for everyone in the set and we usually get a warm welcome when we do a gig.

Suggestions

If anyone has any suggestions or requests for songs don't hesitate to let me know, not only do I want to learn more songs to practice, record and upload here, but I'd also like to add some of these songs to the growing list of music we're currently working on.

Thanks so much! It is a really enjoyable one to play, especially when we're out jamming together.

I'd like to get a small interface to plug my bass into to record it with a bit better sound, but what I have will do for now.

I remember when that song came out with a dramatic video. Not sure I've heard the riff like this before, but I can imagine it goes down well.

It's a lot of fun to play, and once the vocals come in people start buzzing.

I'd really like to record some of jams, or live sets and maybe upload them if the sound quality came out well.

very well played my friend! I like the sound of your bass, I didn't know the song although the sound seems very familiar.

Cheers!

Thank you so much, it's a great bass, it's not overly expensive but it's my favourite to play.

The song is pretty famous, there have been many covers of it over the years. Marilyn Manson done a cover before, but the original is a classic.

My previous @v4vapp proposal has expired. I have a new one which is running but unfunded right now. I'm still running @v4vapp and all my other services.

I've just updated v4v.app and I'm getting ready for some exciting new features after the next hard fork.

Please consider asking your friends to vote for prop #265 or consider unvoting the return vote.

For understandable reasons in the current crypto climate it is harder to get funded by the DHF, I accept this so I'm asking a wider audience for help again. I'll also add that I power up Hive every day and usually power up larger amounts on 1st of the Month. I'm on Hive for ideological reasons much more than for only economic benefit.

Additionally you can also help with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.
