Sharing A Few Tunes For TTT

avatar

It's Three Tune Tuesday, and I've picked out a couple of songs to share. I didn't get a chance to write a post for it last week, which kind of broke a non-official streak I had been doing for the past couple of months.

Special Brew - Bad Manners

This is the first Bad Manners song I heard years ago, and I really enjoyed it and went on to look into some more of their stuff.

Last year, my band got a chance to go on a short tour of Ireland with them, starting off in Belfast, then to Dublin - which was actually canceled due to Buster having some health issues and being admitted to hospital, but, they came back a few months later and we were able to do the Dublin gig them- the next gig was Galway, and we weren't sure if we were going to be going ahead with it.

It's about a 4-and-a-half-hour journey, and we just thought we'd drive in and hopefully hear some good news on the way, which we did. He got out of hospital that afternoon in Belfast and headed straight for the venue. It started a bit later than expected, but in fairness, that's understandable.

They are a great band, and at the top of their game musically. The whole place was hopping each night they played and also, me and the lads were well-received by their crowd.

We got confirmed to play with them again at the end of November which is absolutely brilliant, and we can't wait for it.

Bad Garda - The Bionic Rats

Staying in the same genre, here's some Irish ska. This is one band that I'd love to see live, I love a lot of their songs and just think they're great and bring that undeniable rhythm that most ska bands bring to the table. It's like you have no choice but to move - even slightly - while listening to it.

All Star - Smash Mouth

To completely change up to tone of this post I wanted to share this song. I actually started learning it last week on bass, and it's actually really easy.

Since it was a handy one I suggested it to the others in the band, and they started learning it too. But, one thing I didn't realise is that it's pretty tough on the vocals in a way.

I actually didn't really notice the fast-paced lyrical delivery of the song, or at least, I didn't notice it until the singer in the band was basically doing a version of 'Rap God'

It's catchy, and I think we're going to have it added securely to the set list soon, although, we may need to drop some of it, or just find a good workaround for the section we were struggling with. It's all practice though, and we'll have it down in no time I'm sure.

I think it'll also be nice to play it since the lead singer of the band Steve Harwell passed away last month. To be honest, I don't know any of their other songs, but this one is really good.
