Sharing Some Primus Songs I Heard Recently (Three Tune Tuesday)

avatar

I'm a bit late with this week's addition to #threetuneteusday because I actually lost track of the days and thought yesterday was Monday, but here goes anyway.

Primus - Electric Uncle Sam

I've recently discovered Primus - due to being recommended them by a friend who I was chatting with over in Rebellion, he's the drummer of a band that I've shared up here before.

I think the song is deadly from the album Antipop - which is the only album I've listened to so far - I think the bass player of this band is absolutely savage.

Primus - Natural Joe

This one is class, and I find the bass the stand-out instrument, but as in most bands, each instrument and player is enhanced due to everyone else in the group and how they all play together.

There's a class breakdown in this song where the vocals stop and all of the instruments continue to play, and this whole part of the song turns into a bit of a jam, but it made me go into an almost trance-like state as I just got lost in it until it breaks back into the original tune and the vocals come back.

It's like Hey Joe, but if it was written by insane/ insanely talented people.

Primus - Greet The Sacred Cow

This is the song from the album I was told to listen to before being recommended the whole album. It's random as hell, and I don't even know how to describe it. I've found with this band they kind of don't fit into a genre, but at the same time fit into a few different ones.

My only knowledge of Primus was from the South Park theme song, and from them going on stage with Matt Stone and Trey Parker to play the songs of South Park during the anniversary of the show where they decided to play everything in a live set. But, I'm glad that I've checked them out; they've always been on my radar, it's just I have never actually sat down and listened to them.

The weird thing about them that I've noticed is that they don't really fit into a genre. I find that they remind me of a few different bands, but at the same time I can't exactly place it, it's like they're completely unique, however, not so unique that they can't be enjoyed. It's weird and I'm not sure how to describe them exactly.

It's basically a low of nature for any Primus fans to greet each other with "Primus sucks".

I thought you were messing but I didn't realise that was a thing haha, I've only listened to this album so far, they're really cool though.

I think at one of their shows one time someone yelled "Primus sucks" and after that they started introducing their shows with "We're Primus and we suck" so it became a thing.

They're cool and weird. Hope I get to see them live one day.

The intro of the song is a Muslim tone
If it is the concept, I think it is cool...

Yeah I think so and even some of the musical instruments used are kind of Eastern sounding

I like how eastern it sounds like some kind of Arab tune. Not sure if I'd listen to this randomly but I'm glad I know one more musician.✨

Ha ha, I know the feeling man, life is hectic and busy and easy to miss a day! No for not posting on a Tuesday, you get 1,000 lines....Do you remember that shite from school or one teacher used to get us to write out the Preface of the Science book, pure ball ache like..

I had heard of Primus (not sure how) but I had heard of them, but have not listened to them much, good shout from that new friend from Rebellion as these guys are decent.

Ya man, nice breakdown is right and the Bass is killer.. You mention that they don't fit into a genre and for mw that is pretty cool, they don't sit nicely into some pre-defined box and just are. Nice work brining these to Three Tune Tuesday anyway auld stock, I enjoyed listening along. Easy Flow as they say in Natural Joe, that's what they have, a nice easy natural flow

Oh god man, you've given me flashbacks there. I had a teacher in 6th class who had me doing lines every Friday, sometimes for no reason at all. Although, I figured out a way to get around them though; I noticed that he wouldn't scrutinize them so after a while I'd skip numbers and he never noticed. I must have saved myself writing about 20 or so for every hundred.

Primus are really good, they're a band that has always been on my radar but one that I've never listened to, the more I listen to them, the more I enjoy them.
