The Knitter
@zapfic.club released a prompt in the Freewriters Community, asking us to write a story in 240 words or less, using the prompt, 'Knit.'
Here's A Link To The Prompt If You'd Like To Participate.
Knitting needles clicked and clacked, rythmically tapping as the colourful soft ball of wool was turned into a patern.
An old woman picked up the finished piece and proudly stared at it. She could not wait to give the gift to her grandson.
Inspiration
I was pretty happy to see the prompt this week and I decided to base this off my partner's grandmother, who has knitted so many different jumpers, cardigans, and blankets for our baby.
Handmade gifts are so amazing, and they're the kind of thing that will be kept forever and potentially handed down to him many years from now if he has a kid of his own.
My nan passed away in 2018 and was the last of my grandparents, she had knitted so many things for me and I have a few things she made, including a teddy bear that I called Pier who I'm going to give to my son when he's a bit older and I know that he won't destroy it. But, I think she would be delighted knowing that he had something that she made.
