Don't Expect Nationalism From Immigrants

A country that accepts immigrants may benefit from their labor force, but those immigrants have no nationalism toward the new country. Their pride in their ancestors will be passed on to their descendants.

To become a nationalist, an immigrant should assimilate with the local inhabitants. Marriage with indigenous people can bring nationalism to immigrants.
However, some tribes do not want to marry local people. They will marry their own people. This will be a problem in the future for the new country where they live. When those immigrants become the majority, indigenous people will be eliminated.

Assimilation through marriage is the best way to make balance of pride among immigrants in my opinions. In Indonesia, there are certain ethnic groups that do not allow their children to live with the indigenous people. Now, the indigenous people resist the ethnic groups. They ask about the nationalism of the immigrants. Fortunately, the indigenous population in Indonesia is the majority. This situation brings strong nationalism to all Indonesians.

In Indonesian, there are more than 10 major ethnic groups like Javanese, Sundanese, Bugis, Balinese, Minang, Malay, Maluku, and others. Those are the indigenous people of Indonesia. While the immigrants are Chinese and Arabian people. Those immigrants are a minority in Indonesia.

Indonesian people have the motto' Unity in Diversity." The motto that makes them unite, though there are different cultures and customs, That is my opinion about nationalism and immigrants.
