Unforgettable: My Experience With Masquerade

Hello everyone out here, happy new year to you all, just give me a little of your time, let me just brief you all about the encounter I had with masquerades.

Everyone had travelled back home to celebrate the new year, I was home alone with just me and my phone even my landlord had travelled, so the whole compound was left under my care. I enjoyed the peacefulness this brings but then, boredom was just holding me so much and when I decided to step outside, I saw this thing squatting beside the compound electric pole, I almost fainted as I thought it was a ghost.

I almost ran back inside just then I realized it was the community's masquerade that were on display, the children Were just following them, so when I got closer, he stood up and was laughing at me, my heart was almost going out.

I greeted him and then I noticed they were more than 5 in numbers, it happened that it was the cultural day and the masquerade were just on parade, so I went inside, too the change I had at home then came out but before I gave the biggest masquerade, I asked him to pose so I can snap and show people what tradition over here looks like and he did, then I gave him the money.

After giving out the money, I sat down outside to get myself entertained on the way other masquerades were pursuing the kids that were mocking them, I mean it's been a while I had this much fun, I even took that time to shove off my boredom.

They stayed at the street pursuing kids with big canes, I was just on the look out to see if they will flog any kid and thanks God they didn't because of they did, I would've spoken up against it, I love their costumes, the last time I saw a masquerade was when I was still a kid, then I was staying with my parents.

When they all left, I went inside and then locked back myself and began watching movie till the end of the day.
