Searching for Altcoin Gems

With Bitcoin collapsing hard and currently -67,2% down from its ATH only 7 months ago, many of the altcoins have been pummelled and are suffering far higher lows.

The safe bet in this environment is to stack up on Bitcoin and ride the bull back up again. The degenerate gambler in me however looks for something that could provide greater gains.

Cardano

My first thought is towards Cardano. Ranked 7 in the top cryptos by market cap, Cardano is talked about as an ETH beater. Currently 83,3% down from its ATH, Cardano could provide a higher return if it rebounds than Bitcoin.

The TVL according to Defi Llama is $108.22m. This isn't too much really and a challenge to ETH at the moment.

Solana

Next, I moved on to Solana. This is ranked 9 in the top cryptos by market cap. Solana is actually large enough to possibly be an ETH beater with a TVL according to Defi Llama of $2.86bn. Solana is currently 88,% down from its ATH.

I would be more comfortable buying SOL than ADA with its larger TVL. Possibly there could be a larger run-up in either of these than if I just bought ETH as ETH has had such a larger run-up in the last couple of years.

Polkadot

DOT is ranked currently number 10 by market cap and is 86.6% down from its ATH. It advertises itself as a decentralised web3 solution with chain interoperability. The transaction fees are low and it could be a good token for use in eCommerce.

Those are 3 picks that I may consider to give me some nice returns on a rebound. They could turn me into Diamond Hands or they could cut my hands by turning me into falling knives.

LUNA has put fear into a lot of people - it seemed like a good coin with the right backing. I dont know what I'd choose at the moment, apart from making sure I spread out my investments so that if another coin goes down, I dont loose my shirt

The market is quite spooked right now. Many are waiting for another leg down and only buying bitcoin but I agree with you, I will spread my alts out a bit so I can stay in the game! !ALIVE !PIZZA

Just hodl on a bit and when we bottom out GLMR needs to be on your list and maybe a bit of BRISE....at least I suggest to DYOR on those in the next 6 weeks

Some good choices there Steve, I've got a bit of each that i've built up very slowly from faucets in the main. My main holds though are Dogecoin and Litecoin, which I've worked hardest to get a decent balance, so will be hugely happy when the bounce back occurs, and they rise to decent levels again. !hivebits

I love to read this kind of alt coin discussion.
I had been stocking up Sol too.
I am quite bullish on Polkadot in the past. I am wary now if Polkadot can make it through or just become another Neo. I still have my holding but Polkadot will be one of my last bag to increase.
I still have a bag of ADA and Algo
I am bullish still on cosmos and AVAX.

Based on price and what I expect them to do? WAX for sure, so much potential there. It should be over $1 easy. COTI is also looking kind of cool. A lot of the staking isn't available for it yet because I live in the US but they are supposed to be working towards that. AVA I have been a fan of Travala for a while now. I think they have a good plan and when things pick up and people start traveling again, it should blow up.

Of course, the obvious: HIVE.

I think WAX could have some potential for sure. I need to look at Travala more. I hope Hive will beat its previous ATH, that would be awesome. That reminds me to power up at these low prices. 🙂
