Your story and mine.

Today I understand things
That I didn't understand before
That you had to go away and live your own fantasy
That the adventures I was having
Were not the ones you wanted.

Today I understand things
And I see them from a different point of view
That the pages of my book
Were not the ones you wanted to read
That you needed to write your own poetry.

It hurts me to see you so far away
It hurts me to know that you're not in my life
But I remember your smile
And I want it to be somewhere in the world, even if it's not next to mine
Because it's selfish to think
That happiness is only when you're there
As if you were mine.

Today I understand things
That I didn't understand before
I see that we are free souls
That fly to the sound of a song
And if my song wasn't the one that attracted you
Fly, fly high, my friend
For now our souls can see each other without touching
For your song was never in my tune
For my song is just that
Simply mine.
