International Cat Day + Día Internacional del Gato [Eng+Spa]

Ending Tuesday. It has been a day that started with a water leak in the main pipe, which luckily my brother noticed just when the leak started. It's scary to think what a water leak can do to a building or land. We have to repair this tomorrow, for today we close the water flow in the main faucet.

Although it has been a bit of an eventful day, the rest of the things in my #life have gone quite calmly. I guess the only thing that worries me, in addition to the leak in the pipes, is that my eyes are a little tired and I feel like I have to look for glasses. Anyway, let's leave the report of personal things for now and move on to the celebration that gives the title of the post. Which, as indicated, is 'International Cat Day'.

Terminando el martes. Ha sido un día que comenzó con una fuga de agua en la tubería principal, que por suerte mi hermano la notó apenas cuando comenzó la fuga. Da susto pensar lo que es capaz de dañar una fuga de agua en una construcción o un terreno. Nos toca mañana reparar esto, por hoy cerramos el paso de agua en la llave principal.

Aunque ha sido un día un poquito accidentado, el resto de las cosas en mi #vida han transcurrido con bastante calma. Supongo que la única cosa que me preocupa, adicional a la falal en las tuberías, es que tengo los ojos un poco cansados y siento que me toca buscarme unos lentes. En fin, mejor dejemos por ahora el reporte de cosas personales y pasemos a la celebración que da el título del post. Que, tal como indica, es el ‘Día Internacional del Gato’.

The celebration is every February 20, but it started a few years ago. The origin of this anniversary is the death of a very famous cat. On February 20, 2009, Socks, the Clinton family cat who was adopted and accompanied them during their stay in the White House during Bill Clinton's administration (in the 90s), passed away. Socks was a very photogenic #cat, in addition to accompanying the President of the United States during several official events. And his feline charm earned him quite a few followers on the social media accounts created to share his experiences as #pet of the presidency.

This date is not the only one to celebrate cats, I seem to remember that there are two others on the calendar, but I think that today is the most frequent in terms of its establishment as an international date. Well, these things matter to humans, cats don't care. I suppose in my case, Vero, the house's resident cat, will simply give me a disdainful look if I tell him about it.

La celebración es cada 20 de febrero, pero inició hace pocos años. El origen de esta efeméride está en la muerte de un muy famoso gato. El 20 de febrero de 2009, falleció Socks, el gato de la familia Clinton que fue adoptado y les acompañó durante su estancia en la Casa Blanca durante la administración de Bill Clinton (en los años 90). Socks fue un #gato muy fotogénico, además de que acompañó al Presidente de los Estados Unidos durante varios actos oficiales, y su encanto felino le ganó bastante seguidores en las cuentas de redes sociales creadas para compartir sus vivencias como #mascota de la presidencia.

Esta fecha no la única que hay para celebrar a los gatos, creo recordar que hay otras dos más en el calendario, pero creo que la de hoy es la más recuente en cuanto a su establecimiento como fecha internacional. Bueno, estas cosas les importan es a los humanos, a los gatos les dá igual. Supongo que en mi caso, Vero, el gato residente en casa, simplemente me dedicará una mirada despectiva si le comento al respecto.

Although this cat is quite affectionate on many occasions, the only thing that may worry me a little is his habit of playing with the computer keyboard. Or that he sometimes tries to walk over everything on the computer table. Or that he can come running and then jump on top of my brother while he is typing something on his computer. I guess it's one of those things that can make a cat adorable, although he can drive us crazy at times.

I suppose that a day like this is a valid date to create and share a couple of #Memes like the ones I made for this post in the ImgFlip meme generator. It's a site I recommended before in another post, and it gives pretty fun results.

Aunque este gato es bastante cariñoso en muchas ocasiones, lo único que puede preocuparme un poco es la costumbre que agarra de jugar con el teclado de la computadora. O que intenta caminar en ocasiones sobre todo lo que hay en la mesa de las computadoras. O que puede llegar de golpe y carrera, para luego saltar encima de mi hermano mientras él está tecleando alguna cosa en su computadora. Supongo que es una de esas cosas que pueden hacer adorables a un gato, aunque puede volvernos locos por momentos.

Supongo que un día como este es una fecha válida para crear y compartir un par de #Meme como los que elaboré para este post en el generador de memes de ImgFlip. Es un sitio que recomendé antes, y da resultados bastante divertidos.

I suppose my problem with my eyes is a simple calendar thing, and still working on a screen, it's a matter of buying glasses and getting used to them.
