Sailor and Zebra

There was a ship in a distant port, waiting to be loaded.
Sailor was bored on that ship, playing the guitar.
Sailor dreamed of going out to sea and rocking on waves,
But he was forced to languish while waiting for the cargo.

One day Sailor noticed Zebra on the deck,
Which walked around in black and white stripes.
"Where did you come from? - asked Sailor, puzzled. -
We are on a ship, this is not a circus or a zoo!"

Zebra smiled and replied to Sailor:
"It's like a circus, or a zoo, if you like.
And I dream of sea adventures, of wind and waves."

"But why do you call the ship a circus?"

"Because you're talking to yourself!" - Zebra answered.

"I don’t talk to myself! - Sailor became indignant. -
I play guitar and talk to Zebra which appeared somehow."

"Do you really believe this yourself? There’s no guitar,
There is only endless sea and dead calm all around,
The sun shines around the clock, you're all burned,
And you're dying of thirst, Sailor."

"So you're not here either?"

"I’m not here either," - Zebra nodded sadly.

"Maybe it’s food poisoning, or hangover from bad moonshine,
Or drug overdose?" - asked Sailor with hope.

"Sorry, but no. This is death from thirst on the high seas."

Sailor cried and woke up to see piano hanging above his head.
"Now I’m completely crazy!" - he decided.

"Why the hell are you lying down on the deck? -
The captain yelled at Sailor. -
Movers will trip over you and drop the piano!
Get up and put away guitar, we’ll soon be setting off!"

Sailor jumped up, beside himself with happiness.
He only now finally woke up and realized what it was.

Following the piano, some strange striped horse
Was loaded onto the ship.
Striped horse winked at Sailor and laughed.

The original text was written by me in Russian. I haven't studied English systematically so the translation may not be ideal. The main work was done by Google Translate, I just corrected obvious absurdities, where I noticed them and where I did not confuse them with brilliant insights.
