The virtue of choosing a good friend

On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will give shade to good friends under the Throne. Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu Anhu said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will say,‘ Where are the friends who are friends because of my dignity (obedience)?

That is why the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed the believer to accept him as a friend. He said, ‘Do not choose anyone other than a believer as a companion or friend. (Tirmizi)

That is why Islam forbids those who do not have the love or feeling of the Quran and Hadith to accept him as a friend. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): And those who do so will have no relationship with Allah. '(Surah Al-Imran: verse 26)

Good friend qualities

In the Qur'an, Allah has clearly mentioned the qualities and characteristics of a friend. Allah says, ‘And believing men and believing women help one another. They teach good words and forbid evil. Establishes prayers pay zakat and lives according to the commands of Allah and His Messenger. May Allah have mercy on them. Surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. (Surat at-Tawba: verse 61)

Hazrat Imam Zafar As-Sadiq Rahmatullah Alaihi said, ‘It is not proper to make friends with five people. They are liars, ignorant, cowards, sinners, and stingy people. '

Hazrat Imam Ghazali Rahmatullah Alaihi said, ‘I want to have five qualities in the one with whom I make friends. And that is - ‘intelligence, possessing an honest nature, not being a sinner, not being a heretic and not being worldly.’
